The forclosures are everywhere -- probably not really that much higher in QC than in other newer areas of Metro Phoenix. We had a lot of investors during the housing boom, which are now seeing their properties go into forclosure for one reason or another.

As for your kids feeling "like fish out of water" -- don't worry too much about that. The majority of the population here is from somewhere else (within 5 years or so)!

Default AZ native

I am a 5th generation native to AZ, more specifically, Chandler, Gilbert, Queen Creek area. I loved Chandler until it exploded. It was a nice farming community with lots of cotton fields, now it is a major city. Gilbert was a great community until it exploded and now we are in Queen Creek where everyday we see more people flooding here. I read about all theses places that are just exploding with growth and I am wondering where all the ghost towns are hahaha. Anyway, Chandler and Gilbert have great schools, very big but very good. (I graduated from Gilbert) Queen is a hit and a miss. We are fortunate to live in a part of QC that my kids can go to Chandler schools. I don't reccommend Weinberg but CTA Freedom is awesome and then the traditional San Tan JH and Basha High are top notch. Yes there are scorpions everywhere. Some houses are "blessed" with more of them but they can be next door to them. Keep a regular bug guy, have a cat or two and chickens if you can and you'll be fine. I have been stung several times throughout the years and I can promise that they won't kill you (unless you are allergic). Maricopa county commute to Phoenix is not bad with the new 202 south about 45-1 hr if there are no wrecks and construction delays. From the pinal county side the longest part of the commute is from south QC to a freeway. Ironwood road is pretty much the only access and it can get pretty congested. I would pick QC over anywhere else in this area though. There is alot of equestrain activities if you are in to that. We are getting ready to sell out though and move to ID somewhere north. We miss the Mayberry days. Good luck with your move.

They do like we do not so good in that horrible heat they need air condition just like you do. If you cant properly take care of an animal dont gert one and dont get one just to use for keeping bugs away.

Cats are not human babies. They are good at catching everything and I'm sure like it better than being locked inside and having to rely on a person to feed them and entertain them. It's like a prison for them, staring out the window all day. Get a cat door. Problem solved. Although they may bring a birdie or critter in it will be dead, or 1/2 dead anyway. Queen Creek is a perfect kitty home. I think people in the city shouldn't own them, or if they have to own them then keep them in but cars, not heat, are a cats worse enemy. Cats know how to keep cool most of the summer. They also love to kill things. Not so much being snuggle wuggled by a big hairless animal and given a little treat. There might be some that have that beggin thing down but most cats seem to want a little respect. If you want a live stuffy, get a small dog.

Default QueenCreek.com

Queen Creek is in 2 counties. If you live in the Queen Creek city limits, then you actually live in Queen Creek, and you live in Maricopa County. Others live in Pinal County and have a Queen Creek mailing address. I'd say 80 percent of the homes you see on mls listings are in Pinal County.

Not really much of a difference between the two. The town of Queen Creek does not have its own police department, fire department, etc. We just got our first street light 2 years ago. The retail is just now being built, so there are (or will be) shopping, stores, and restaurants within a few miles of wherever you decide to live. We already have a Wal Mart Super Center in the Pinal County area on Hunt Highway. Downtown Queen Creek will have a Wal Mart SuperCenter by Ocotober.

Traffic last year was TERRIBLE, but many roads have been widened this year and more streetlights are going up each month.

I own [urlmoderator cut[/url]
Both are good site to check out more info on Queen Creek. I personally live in Pinal County in Pecan Creek subdivision and I love it. There are some AWESOME deals on new build homes at the moment, but you need to close within a month or two. Otherwise, there are around 2128 homes in the mls for Queen Creek. Plenty of homes for sale. Just find a realtor you like....

I think San Tan Heights is the area where I'm moving to in Queen Creek. Is that where the new WallMart and the 2 Walgreens and other big box stores are? A new Sonic Burger, too . . . and strip malls, a Fry's grocery. And other stuff. ????

Ah, Queencreek, I just saw your message. You answered my questions before I posted it. Thanks. Yes, Hunt Road, I'll be in the Meritage Homes track - Rancho Bella Vista.

As to the heat, I was in QC over July 4th week when the temps were 115 - 117. Of course I wasn't out in it much, only to go to the store, or out to lunch or dinner. I'm more of an indoor person, so I don't feel the temps will be much of a problem for me or my cats. They'll come in if it's too hot, just like they do here in California when it gets up to 105 or so at times in the summer.
