I did not miss the irony.

I chose not to address it.

YMMV and I really don't care, and that's the difference (at least one, anyway) between you and me.

I busted somebody for making an ironic grammatical error. You busted me for busting somebody making a grammatical error. Not a huge difference there.

I suspect you are the kind of person who cares more about winning than being diplomatic or making/keeping friends. And that's another difference between us.

Well, now you're attacking me, and not discussing the thread. That's a violation of the TOS. So we'll just leave it at that.

Another aspect is that writing and language are not quite set-in-stone, like (for example) math. It's not quite as loose as art, either, but I tend to think it has more in common with art than math.
Grammer and language change and are open to interpretation. Some have tried to make hard-and-fast rules, but many of those "rules" fail the test of time.

Assuming there is anything to the OP's original question, it has nothing to do with Phoenix and would not be limited to Phoenix or even Arizona. So, why is it here?

Default I beg to differ

Each state adapts its own policies on education, so how does this have nothing to do with ' Phoenix or even Arizona '?

Moreover, this is a subject I'm very concerned with, whether or not others share that concern. I posted in hopes of receiving feedback on it from local educators, as I said in the last line of the original post.

Unfortunately, the majority of the replies have been from people who could have just spent their energy more wisely elsewhere. If you have no interest in the topic, or feel it's unimportant, why not post somewhere else? I don't understand the logic of telling me you don't care. Clearly some members do care.

This is not a knock on teachers, many of whom do a great job and are overworked and underpaid. This is a knock on parents who are too busy or too disinterested to invest their own time in their own children's education.
WTF?

How in the heck do parents not have the time?

I spend quality time w/neighbors and friends' kids.

We're learnin' and readin' and studyin' and watchin' and huntin' and fishin' and all kinds of other good stuff.

Clean your plate.

Be kind to others.

Give ifya wanna get.

Good grammar, eh?

I do it for effect.

It's how I talk.

So you're saying that AZ has a policy in place where educators no longer require students to use proper grammar, spell and punctuate correctly?

The words "Phoenix" or "Arizona" appeared nowhere in your original post, which consisted of a general question about a concern you have that educators don't care about spelling, grammar, etc. So, sorry, it doesn't sound like a purely Arizona issue. You also didn't specifically ask for input from "local" teachers or administrators, although if you got any responses from teachers, they would likely come from Arizonans, as it's mostly Arizonans who use this forum. But now, you are suggesting that what you perceive as a lack of concern for those subjects is a POLICY adopted (I presume you didn't really mean "adapted") by this state? Ridiculous suggestion, IMO.

Perhaps it would have been better if you had stayed with the long post you said you'd originally written.
