Is there a particular area more suited for non-racist people? Especially Mexican/White?
What about a mixed race child attending schools around Phoenix?
Basically the overall question is:
Are mexican-americans integrated into society out there, or are they perceived as 2nd class humans?
We both make really good salaries as Senior IT and could easily afford to live in the Scottsdale area and are thinking that is the place.

I don't see much racisim in Phx/Scottsdale. I do see a lot of "classism". You really can't avoid it...pretty pervasive.
If you are black, white, hispanic, asian...whatever...if you dress nicely and are well groomed nobody will give you a second look. If you look poor you will run into some pretty obvious exclusion. Of course it's worse in the affluent areas.

They Have An Understanding That We Are All Here..and Are Much More Tolorant Of Other Races There Really Isn't Room For One To Generalize.

Racism cuts in different ways:
A friend of an ex G/F who looked lile a stereotypical Mestizo AKA 'Hispanic' was visting Tucson with some obviously 'Anglo' friends whereupon a 'Vato/Cholo' tried to give him some grief.
Cholo was ragging on the above person for hanging out with 'White' people-------finally, the man had enough and and told the idiot off------in perfect British English!
The alleged 'Chicano' was actually a White Englishman!
Note too that when pressed; most Mestizos claim 'White' due to the terrible White Supremacist streak in Hispanic culture.
To wit: the standard of beauty with the above is white skin and blue eyes.
Take a look at any telenovela and note the Mexicans actors/actresses of clearly White European heritage (Scandinavian, English, German, Castilian Spanish, etc) with the stereotypical brunet Latinos depicting menial roles.
If I were Latino: I would be hurt and offended at best.
Much like the 'Black:White' divide of 50 years ago here in the USA.

So we are moving back to a diverse big city, more tolerant and not so easy to generalize.
San Francisco or NYC are our choices...I don't feel like having my child grow up around racism and unrest.

My kids are mixed Cuban/Italian they did fine even in Mormon county(Gilbert). Take the racist chip off your of your own shoulder first and you should be fine in any area.

I know of what you speak of there:
My stepsisters are 'Anglo/White' of French (of Italian heritage) and generic Irish descent.
The father (ethnic Italian ancestry) is almost as dark as a fullblooded Navajo Indian and the youngest daughter gets mistaken for Puerto Rican a lot (very swarthy like her bio dad)-------to the point that she decided to learn Spanish for her own peace of mind.

OK: you define 'ethnicity', please.
I am of Hungarian/English/Irish heritage yet look like a Nordic Scandinavian (strawberry blond hair, bluegray eyes, porcelain white skin and well over 6').
Yet a friend of mine, also of Hungarian lineage, is definitely Mestizo (Eurasian) in appearance-------dark hair, high cheekbones, slanted eyes with the epicanthic folds, etc. Yet, she is 100% 'White', legally speaking.
