It sounded like the world was ending up here (85023) the yard was full of hail and it pounded the hell out of everything. All the car alarms were going off, and my cats were terrified lol....it was raining really hard and windy too.

My wife's ranger got messed up, as well as a friend of mine's Tacoma. He lost his windshield, and the hood, roof, A pillar, and driver door is TRASHED. His boss thinks they are gonna total the truck.

My wife is still stuck in Traffic on I17 and Indian School. She left school on I17 and Dunlap at 4:30. I guess there is a car accident ahead of her, a school bus is involved. She is stopped underneath the overpass of Indian School, and the water is above her running boards on her truck.

The good news is, I have had my windows open all day. I turned off the A/C yesterday around 6, and it hasn't been on since.

I took a few pictures this afternoon during the storms, including one of Midtown Phoenix with the hail column blasting Deer Valley in the far background. The second round of storms carried hail here in downtown. We had > 50mph gusts downtown too.

Click on the thumbnails for larger pics.

Dust storm comes first

Sky Harbor tower through the dust (this is only 3 miles from my house)

Storms move in

Done... for a while

She is home. Took her 4 hours. Her Ranger is messed up pretty good, the hood is done for, it looks like someone did the cha cha all over it. Haven't gotten a chance to check out the roof. The door sills are banged up pretty good as well.

Sorry to hear that - hope that she gets back by now - quite a mess around there. At least two of my co-workers had hail damage on their car and from the TV news looks like many had similar problem or worse. Looks like it was quite a wild storm pounding one cell after another - hail, down trees and powerlines, flooding, damaged roof and cars. Feel lucky now watching in the safety of North Peoria - here - what storm? Just a little rain, some wind and nice rainbow to the east of us. (yesterday we had more rain, wind and great lightning show to the north of us). Even had a "happy" drive back on Happy Valley Rd this evening.

Had a big laugh with the coverage of 3TV reporter Mike Watkiss (looks like he is a hurricane reporter wannabe) on 9pm news.

yep-first time Ive had the AC off in months!
I had to put it back on this evening though...since we obviously cannot keep the windows open all night in the city (if we had the wrought iron on the windows I would though).
