Washington School District
Specifically Ironwood Elementary and Desert Foothills Middle...how are they? I'm moving to the area of 35th and Greenway (I think that's the name of the street).

Look into Abraham Lincoln Traditional School, located a few miles away from you at 39th Ave and Peoria. It is a K-8 school and probably the best elementary school on this side of town. It has open enrollment for anyone in the Washington School District. Focus is on the three R's, lots of discipline and they have a fairly strict dress code. If you have a child that is academically motivated it is a great school.

This school district gets out early on Wednesdays? For what? How are the charter schools out here?

They get out early each Wednesday for teacher in-service or something like that.
Charter schools in the area range from great to terrible. We had our kids in Valley Academy Charter School and the academics were great, but they were way too strict on discipline. That's why we put our kids in Abraham Lincoln, academically as good as the best charter schools and not as rigid on the discipline.

The Charters schools are hit and miss. The kids that get kicked out of the regular schools end up going to some of those. Especially Life School Liberty in Mesa .

She was trying to figure if you meant STREET or AVENUE, that's all. If you know the valley pretty well you can tell where a person is talking about without asking. I knew you were talking about ave and not street as I know both areas quite well. Plus, 35th AVE is a main street whereas 35 STREET is not. And, you were also talking about the west side of town.
