Youre gonna play golf in 95 degrees with 80% humidity in Dallas or 118 in Phoenix? Now THATS nuts!

Oh come one, it's not ALWAYS 118 in Phoenix! I'd rather have three months of 100+ over six months of cold, rainy, dirty snow, slush, ice, gray skies and everything else that comes with Michigan between mid-October and mid-April. . .

Exactly! In fact it is pretty rare. The average number of days 110 or higher is 10. This year we had a few more than that; it got over 114 for the first time in five years. Anyway, that is a peak temp that is reached around 4pm. Morning lows when it gets up in the 110s are in the 70's on the golf course. People play golf (and boat, fish, hike, camp, ride horses, etc, etc.) year 'round. This state is outdoor heaven. You can drive into heat or away from it anytime you want.

Oh come on, its not ALWAYS cold, rainy, dirty, snow, slush, ice, gray skies in winter in Michigan.

This kind of argument has been done to death on this board. I just hope youre not gonna be another one expecting "paradise" in AZ, then in 5 years time, come to despise AZ and its weather. Sure sun is great, but when its constant and neverending, it becomes incredibly taxing, as does a bitterly cold winter. Im willing to bet that 80% of the folks who rush to AZ have NO idea what theyre getting into. Some look forward to the sun, then end up dreading it. Some expect to wear shorts year round, aint gonna happen. Some want to leave rainy areas, and in turn miss the rain horribly.

Its all up to the individual.

70s in the morning? Bah. We'd leave to go hiking at 7am and it was already 85-90 degrees. And that was ALL WEEK LONG. I know this because I had a thermometer with me at all times.

You're right, it's not, but it's six months of yuck as opposed to three months extreme heat.

I agree, it's a dead horse already. But I doubt this particular discussion will ever end! I agree that lots of people will move to AZ on a whim cuz they think they're gonna love the heat then quickly end up hating it. I've been traveling to Vegas and AZ since 1993 and have always planned on moving to one of the two. I've been there in the winter and summer. I've done my research. I absolutely LOVE the hot, hot weather. I love the desert landscape. I love the mountains. So, to put your mind at ease, at least as far as one person on this forum who is planning on making the move, please know that I won't be one of those 80%.

Thats good to hear! Me? After 2 wonderful weeks, Im ready to get out, ready for a change. You know, maybe like a cloud or two. Perhaps some nice cool rain drops. Shade. LOL

I do love AZ, but its not for me. Ill just enjoy a few weeks a year there, enough to satisfy me.

94 in PHX isnt that horrible. Ive hiked Camelback in the low 90s, and hot as it was, I summited. I tried it again a few weeks back in 110, made it 1/2 way and said forget it. You can die up there, no joke.
