ARIZONA - WHAT A STATE!

May 30th - Now this is a state that knows how to live! Beautiful sunny days and warm balmy evenings. Mountains and deserts blended together. What a place! Watched the sunset from a park lying on a blanket. It was beautiful. I've finally found my home I love it here.

June 14th - Really heating up. Got to 100 today. Not a problem. Live in an air-conditioned home, drive an air-conditioned car. What a pleasure to see the sun every day like this. I'm turning into a real sun worshipper.

June 30th - Had the backyard landscaped with western plants today. Lots of cactus and rocks. What a breeze to maintain. No more mowing for me. Another scorcher today, but I love it here.

July 10th - The temperature hasn't been below 100 all week. How do people get used to this kind of heat? At least it's a dry heat. Getting used to it is taking longer than I expected.

July 15th - Fell asleep by the pool. (Got 3rd degree burns over 60% of my body.) Missed two days of work, what a dumb thing to do. I learned my lesson though: got to respect the ol' sun in a climate like this.

July 20th - I missed Tabby (our cat) sneaking into the car when I left this morning. By the time I got out to the hot car for lunch, Tabby had swollen up to the size of a shopping bag and exploded all over $2,000 worth of leather upholstery. I told the kids she ran away. The car now smells like a sewer. No more pets in this heat!

July 25th - Dry heat, my ass. Hot is hot!! The home air-conditioner is on the fritz and AC repairman charged $200 just to drive by and tell me he needed to order parts.

July 30th - Been sleeping outside by the pool for three nights now. $1,100 in damn house payments and we can't even go inside. Why did I ever come here?

Aug 4th - 115 degrees. Finally got the air-conditioner fixed today. It cost $500 and gets the temperature down to about 90. Stupid repairman pissed in my pool. I hate this state.

Aug 8th - If another person asks, "Hot enough for you today?", I'm going to tear his throat out. Damn heat. By the time I get to work the radiator is boiling over, my clothes are soaking wet, and I smell like roasted Garfield!!

Aug 10th - The weather report might as well be a damn recording: Hot and Sunny. It's been too hot for two damn months and the weatherman says it might really warm up next week. Doesn't it ever rain in this barren damn desert?? Water rationing has been in effect all summer, so $1,700 worth of cactus just dried up and blew into the pool. Even a cactus can't live in this heat.

Aug 14th - Welcome to Hell!!! Temperature got to 123 today. Forgot to crack the window and blew the windshield out of the Lexus. The installer came to fix it and said, "Hot enough for you today?" My wife had to spend the $1,100 house payment to bail me out of jail.

Aug 30th - Worst day of the damn summer. I'm not leaving the house. The monsoon rains finally came and all they did is to make it muggier than hell. The Lexus is now floating somewhere in Mexico with it's new $500 windshield. That does it, we're moving to New York for some peace and quiet.

I haven't looked on here in so long that I missed this post. This is perfect. Now imagine this for 20+ yrs. You get the picture. Thanks for putting a smile on my face.

I really get depressed sometimes, i am a person that likes or did to have flowers and a nice lawn, all the brown and dust is a downer, speaking of that I can not keep my house clean no matter how much time I spend on it, I miss a clean house to.Its like being in a fish bowl, and so dangerous with the heat in the summer, sometimes when im out and about I feel like i am going to just drop to the ground im that miserable in the heat. after 5 years I have never embraced or adjusted to Arizona.

Amen. I am also from the midwest and been here way too long. You see what I mean about the difference in the people too. The rudeness is UNBELIEVEABLE!! I have so many stories, I could write a book. Hope you enjoy NY and if you live anywhere near the Scottsdale/NE Phx area, say hello!

well you can only take so much off and you are naked and still hotter than hell. Atleast with the winter and cold in Montana you can always put more on to stay warm. I'm going back to live there at the end of this year. Too damn hot here in Mohave Valley, AZ.

Leaving AZ is on a distinguished road
I Agree That Is Why Im Leaving As Well As Soon As My House Sells Im Outta Here And One To Better Things. The Biggest Thing For Me Is The Weather I Want My Kids To Be Able To Play Outside In The Summer When They Are Off Of School Instead Of Sitting Inside Vegging Out In Front Of The T.v. Cause It Is Always To Damn Hot To Do Anything! Im A Native Here My Whole Life 26 Years And Every Year It Gets Worse And Worse. Im Irritated And In A Bad Mood All The Time! I Hate It Here !!!!!!!!

I am also a native (born and raised in Hell) and can not wait to leave. This is my last summer here.YEA!!!!!!!! I was trying to think about all the reasons I hate it here and here is my list:

The heat is the number 1! When I was a kid, we could play outside. It wasn't as hot as it is now. Now to get in the car you need to have oven mitts on to touch anything. Never mind the skin you leave behind on the seats. We actually had winters back then. Also it did cool off at night so we could enjoy the evenings. Even the pool is not refreshing anymore because the water is to warm. We used to put blocks of ice in at night to cool it down more, but that doesn't work anymore.

Number 2! The environment. As kids, we would go out in the desert to see how many horned toads we could find. Well, all of that is being replaced with homes that are 3 feet apart. The concrete island is taking its toll.

Number 3! The cost of living! There is too much sprawl here and the cost of gas. Need I say anymore?!

Number 4! The rude people! I know that everyone wants to get where they are going to get out of the heat, but common on folks.

AND FINALLY.....

Number 5! The drugs and crime! Again, when I was a kid we walked home from school without a worry. You could leave your doors unlocked, leave toys out and they would still be there.

I know that I could come up with more, but this was off the top of my sweltering head!!!!!!!!

Life is what you make of it, no matter where you live. If you focus on the negatives then you will only see the negative and be negative. Apparently, people need to have more fulfilling lives. Have a career to work towards, have friends and activities to do, go back to school and become more educated. Get out and see the good things. Enough complaining. If it's that bad, then leave.

Sable- This was just a forum for us to vent. How do you know the education level of the people posting here? Just because we are tired of AZ doesn't mean that we do not have fulfilling lives with families and friends. Just venting...
