Don't take the first bit of info. Philadelphia has more than 6 million but less than Arizona.

The allure of warmer weather and the lack of snow was one of the things that drew me to Phoenix but the oppressive summer heat is such a turnoff.

I know all about taking the good with the bad, and there are worse places to live but is it really all that great when we take into account the high electric bills from just trying to stay cool in the summer?

Or the outrageous water bills to pay if you want a green lawn and some shadetrees?

It was written before about what people are really moving here for, is it just the weather or is it for job opportunities, good schools, decent neighborhoods, or being close to family or loved ones?

I consider those things much more of a priority than clear blue skies and warm weather.

For different people it is different things. For some, it is the seemingly endless blue skies and warm weather. For some, it is job opportunities. For others, it is good schools (yes, there are some excellent schools here, despite what some say). Some others, it is the many decent neighborhoods. While others, it is to be close to family.

People move here for all sorts of different reasons. And almost always it is an importnat reason to them.

Philly is expected to be adding some counties back into its metro area that were taken off just before the 2000 census. Another thing to know is that the Philly CSA is already larger than the state of Arizona.

It seems to me that YOU are the one so bothered by the fact that the actual city of Phoenix (even if it does have more land) is more populated than the actual city of Philly. Yes, we know that the Philly CSA is more populated than the Phoenix MSA. Yes, we know that the urban area of Philly has more people AND AREA than the urban area of Phoenix. To put it into perspective for you, the Philly Urban Area as of 2000 was roughly 4660.7 sq km, while the Phoenix Urban Area as of 2000 was 2069.4 sq km. Therefore, even though Phoenix doesn't have a city core like Philly, the overall urban area of Phoenix is more densely populated than the overall urban area of Philly.

Regardless how you put it PHOENIX HAS MORE PEOPLE THAN PHILADELPHIA. No matter what you say is going to change that fact and it's been like this for several years, not to mention that Phoenix is still adding people by the droves. This thread is about as the population of PHOENIX continues to grow not about Philadelphia is better than Phoenix. What ever way you put it Phoenix and Arizona has more people than Philly.

Besides being ignorant, I'm still trying to figure out what your purpose is in this thread.

This link will give you an idea of the density of the Urban Areas in the US. Enjoy!
