Default Moving from LA to Phoenix Area HELP w Questions!

I'm looking to move to The greater Phoenix area..will be working in Chandler and need advice on area to move too. My stats are...single, no kids, mid 30's, make decent money(used to high rent from here in Los Angeles so 800-1200$ month for an apt) and I want an area thats safer but fun..medium nightlife, good shopping, nice men to meet, pretty atmosphere but not too college based just mostly safe and mid 30's people who work and relax and hang out.. Any suggestions? Ive read maybe Gilbert, Chandler or Scottsdale? I have a friend in mesa but i think shes not a huge fan of it...Ideas?? help!

Depends on how long of a commute do you want? Do you have any friends in Chander? If you want a realitively easy commute I would obviously look in Chandler or Ahwatukee (Phoenix). That way if you want to go to Old Town Scottsdale for a night out you are only 20-25 minutes away. But you can find plenty of things to do in Chandler or Ahwatukee. I always suggest that people try to move closer to their friends and family when they move to the Valley. I suggest this because the Valley is so spread out and you live in Chandler and your best friend lives in Peoria, odds are you will not get to see them that much. Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Good Luck and welcome to Phoenix

Gilbert is a good fit or Ahwatukee. Both great places to live but I like Gilbert alittle better. :-)

Gilbert seems to be to family oriented for you. Like you might already know Tempe has too many college aged people.

Chandler seems to be a good place to look. Maybe even Scottsdale. Scottsdale is the place you will be going to club.

You'll like Ahwatukee. Decent golf course--in winter--hiking trails in and around the rolling hills to the west of it that you can enjoy year round. As far as night life, downtown Phoenix is not that far away (Ahwatukee is part of Phoenix) and there is a lot of stuff to do on a game night (baseball or basketball) the Arizona Cardinals play in Glendale--go figure. Tempe does have a lot going on always, because it is a college town. Chandler is coming of age but along with Gilbert there really isn't a centralized area where you will find a lot of night time activity which you will find in Tempe, Scottsdale and some areas of Phoenix. What was your question? Anyway our freeway system is a bit better than twenty years ago, and now we have light rail, it doesn't go to a lot of places but it's a start. It could be tough to find any major undesirable places to live in Ahwatukee, Gilbert, and most areas of Scottsdale and Chandler.

Ahwatukee is great. And some people like the activity at Chandler Mall restaurants such as Kona Grill. There is a Kona Grill in Scottsdale at Fashion Square and last time I was there a couple of years ago it was a cool spot.

Ahwatukee reminds me of Orange County but in a desert sense.

By the way, I work in L.A. and I live in an area where Phoenix/Ahwatukee/Chandler "meet up."

Close to Ahwatukee is Roy's Fusion, Z Tejas, RA sushi, Buca De Beppo, Red Lobster, On The Border, Outback Steakhouse, Nello's Pizza (a popular local pizza place), Rockbottom microbrewery. Haven't been to RA in Ahwatukee, but have been to the one in old Scottsdale. If it's anything like Scottsdale's RA, it should be a place for someone like you.

Lived here for 50 years - here you go.
Best places to live and meet people:
Scottsdale : Fashion square north along scottsdale road, west to paradise valley, east to 101 freeway
Scottsdale/Phoenix: Desert Ridge area, quieter than scotts but a nice place to live
Tempe: Only in the new condos along Mill ave.
