There are a lot of stores here. But it is very competitive. And many wealthy people have homes here which help to keep the business good at Biltmore Fashion Park and Fashion Square.

They are not measuring the quality of stores and selection of higher end merchandise as I would rate New York City #1, Los Angeles #2, San Francisco #3 and Chicago #4. Phoenix would be around #12 or 13 on my list.

I got excited at first to find out we are #2 on the list, but now that I see Detroit on it I am not too sure about the list's credibility. Last time I went there I counted more abandoned buildings then stores, there's not even a grocery store in the city, so again not too sure about this list.

Who has more credibility?

Given the criteria, I'd agree, pretty much across the board.

It's interesting that Milwaukee ranks just behind L.A. I live in Milwaukee also, and the city has a lot of shopping options that are easily accessible. It's missing some of the top tier retail, but it's not bad overall and has come a long way in the last 10 years.

One thing I'm a little curious about is that Minneapolis is missing! I consider Minneapolis to be a very good city for shopping. Guess it didn't fit the mold though.

Where is NYC on that list? Number 22? I find that a little suspect...

It doesn't surprise me at all. There are so many strip malls here and guess what fills those strip malls......STORES! Even average neighborhoods here have some upscale shopping. For example, even that shopping center in Mesa off the 60 has its own Apple Store even if there are two Apple Stores already nearby (Chandler Mall, San Tan Village). Apple Stores are not plentiful and some cities have only 2 in the entire metro let alone 3 in a 20 miles radius. There are two Best Buys that are 15 minutes from each other in my area and there are 5 Best Buys in a 20 mile radius in my area (Ahwautukee, Chandler Mall, Fiesta Mall area, Tempe Marketplace, and San Tan Village). And that is so normal here.
