I was told by friends at work that crushing a scorpion will release a substance that attracts other scorpions, I can't vouch for the accuracy of that statement. You can pick it up with duct tape and place it in a jar or ziplock bag.
I have only seen a few over the last 6yrs. I have an exterminator. I used to get a lot of wasps nesting in my vines so I sprayed them with demon-WP, I haven't seen a single one since nor any other bugs for that matter. Demon-WP is supposedly effective against scorpions also if used at double concentrate. I got it on ebay for $10/package.

Scorpions-what is a good way to kill them
Hello...
to answer the original question....
I live in Gilbert in a very green, irrigated area. We started seeing scorpions a few years ago and some made their way into the house. Since I have kids, a mission ensued to rides these pests (yes about 90% are bark scorpions). At first, I had the best luck turning over rocks and killing them with a stick. Then started using a UV flashlight (shines about 30 feet). and let me tell you this method works great. I find them everywhere....especially near the spa, rocky area and palm trees. I spray them with "Hot-Shot" which kills them within a few minutes. Also, takes care of roaches, crickets etc. So far, over 100 since 6/1 and nearly 400 last year. I would be happy to sell them but would need more info on a reliable , quick source as I really don't prefer to handle them or keep as pets...
I have been stung before and it hurts (burning sensation) comparable to a bee sting. My wife was stung and it was a week-long painful event. Luckily the kids have been spared. As for cats, chickens...not sure if they help. I can say there are many cats in the neighborhood (several live on/near the house) and to date, I still get lots of scorpions. So far I would I would rank best methods as follows:
1. blacklight with stick or poison
2. stick or shoe
3. exterminator (not really sure the stuff kills scorpions, just their food)
Hope this helps...

We found a scorp and a centipede today, stuck in a new bathtub out on the jobsite. (Same jobsite where the snake encounter yesterday). Guess the sides were too slick and neither one could crawl out. One of the guys trapped them together in a glass jar. We think they must have killed each other because by noon they were both dead. Just in case, though, he left it there with the lid still on and behind some wood. Hopefully the framers wont be there anytime soon.
Usually the guys just kill them on the jobsites. Drop a block or a brick, maybe crush it with some nearby lumber....

somebody told me you go outside at night with a black light and when you see them, you stab them with a fork.

LOL @ Yukon
I relocated to Tucson about ten years ago and, thankfully, have yet to come face to face with a scorpion.
Another major plus . . . no mosquitos and/or roaches (Palmetto Bugs) the size of small cats.

A medium sized very smooth rock works very well. Squishing one will not attract other scorpions. A cat will usually only "alert" you to the whereabouts of the scorpion so that you can kill it. My cats always stayed a good distance away. When pet lizards got out inside the house, the cats did go for the kill. Don't worry so much about the scorpions -they generally stay hidden and eat a LOT of **** roaches and other bugs! See they have their place. If bitten by a scorpion, put on a paste of meat tenderizer mixed w/ a small amount of water. The poison is a protein so the tenderizer will break it down. No more hurt in about 5 minutes.
