1) Be sure to jump in the swimming pool at least once. Yes we know it is 40 degrees, but you can impress your friends back east with stories about how you were "in the pool".
2) Walk around in shorts and t-shirts all day long. Never mind that you are blinding us with the glare off your pasty white legs that haven't seen the sun in months.
3) Be sure to phone every person you know who is currently in a freezing climate to tell them in your most annoying voice "it is 75 degrees here right now..."

Welcome to Phoenix. Yes you are an idiot for living in <Chicaco, New Jersey, New York, Denver, Minnesota>. Now go home

It's a mystery to me why anyone would choose Phoenix as a vacation destination in the first place. Other than hot weather, you got....what?

Now, Northern Arizona is another matter entirely. Beautiful place.

By 40 degrees, I guess you mean Celsius - which equals 104 Fahrenheit.

I think he meant the temperature of the pool water.

Quit being a coward. I and plenty of other people who live here full-time wear shorts and t-shirts year-round.
If it gets below 40 I might consider thinking about the possibility of maybe putting on a sweatshirt.

Change of scenery really. It's unique to most of the US because let's face it, the majority of the rest of the US looks pretty much the same, especially the midwest and east coast, very green, older etc. Phoenix is a city in the middle of the desert with unique vegetation...everyone that comes out here seems to take a picture with a cactus. A lot of people come here for golfing, I've ran into a few playing poker at the casino who specifically said they came to play golf. Another reason is as a "home base" for exploring the rest of Arizona like Sedona or the Grand Canyon. There are a lot of great resorts and great shopping in the Phoenix area plus good night life so it's a good place to stay while planning out day trips.

A lot of people just don't "get" the desert. I'm fom L.A. and have lived the past 15 long years here in WI. 3 more years and the wife and I are moving to AZ. I can't wait! There is so much to do in the desert.

I don't know, the resorts, the shopping (Phoenix is second best in the nation, did you know that?), the museums, golf, sports (Cactus League, anyone?), the fall-winter-spring weather, plus the central Arizona location make it easy to see all that the state has to offer.

Maybe you should come visit and find out what Phoenix has.
