Default MD Anderson Cancer Center set to open in Gilbert AZ in 2011

We've been watching the progress of the MD Anderson Cancer Center (http://www.bannerhealth.com/Locations/Arizona/Banner+MD+Anderson+Cancer+Center/_homepage.htm - broken link) on Higley at the Highway 60 in Gilbert for some time.

It's nearing completion and set to open in late 2011 in the Banner Gateway Medical Center (http://www.bannerhealth.com/Locations/Arizona/Banner+Gateway+Medical+Center/_Banner+Gateway+Medical+Center.htm - broken link). Banner Gateway is a state of the art hospital. We attended the grand opening a couple years ago and had a guided tour of the hospital. We were highly impressed and are looking forward to MD Anderson's grand opening.

MD Anderson is the leader in cancer care, treating more cancer patients and offering more clinical research than any other cancer organization in the U.S.

The facility will be a 120,000 square-foot outpatient center with 76 inpatient beds in Banner Gateway.

This will bring quite a few jobs to the east valley. MD Anderson expects to post job openings soon.

One can submit information to the Recruitment Team here:

In the past few years Gilbert had already added two new hospitals; Banner Gateway and Mercy Gilbert on Val Vista Dr and the south loop of the 202. That added quite a few jobs and brought new residents to Gilbert.

About 1/2 mile east of Banner Gateway, between Hwy 60 and Baseline is a school that doesn't get much mention. It's the Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health where one can earn their Doctor of Dental Medicine degree. It's the first such school in AZ.

Students come from all over the states to go to school there, and many of them buy homes here. I've helped two of the dental students buy homes when they moved here.

When you consider huge projects in the medical field above, and the technology growth that's happening in Chandler it isn't difficult to predict that the Phoenix area and especially the east valley will continue to grow and prosper.
