I am going to be snowbirding in Anthem next winter. Anthem's zip code is 85086 which I believe is a Phoenix zip and New River is 85087. When I Google the weather for 85086, New River comes up. I'm confused, LOL. Can anyone clarify? Thanks.

Phoenix is a vast metro area, and any zip that begins with "850" is Phoenix. Anthem is Phoenix, New River is Phoenix, Cave Creek is Phoenix, etc. etc. The weather will be essentially the same throughout the metro area with only minor variations. Now wait for all the responses to that comment!

Anthem is scheduled to be annexed by the city of Phoenix as part of the general plan through 2020.
Anthem currently gets police and fire protection from the city of Phoenix as well as sewer and water services.

Technically speaking, you will be in Maricopa County once you are a bit further north of Carefree Highway.

I live in 85086 a block north of Carefree and just barely within the City of Phoenix city limits. Due to the higher elevation and lack of concrete jungle, the temperature can be anywhere from a couple to several degrees cooler than central Phoenix.

Thanks. The landlord gave me the street address in Anthem of the house I rented so I presume the address will be Phoenix vs "Anthem, Arizona", correct? Sorry for all the questions but it is confusing. If you live in Cave Creek or Carefree for instance, do they use Phoenix as their mailing address?

Cave Creek and Carefree are actual towns with town governments.

Anthem as I understand it has a HOA and a board of some sort that set the rules.

I think the mailing address would read "Anthem, AZ" as opposed to "Phoenix, AZ"

When I lived there years ago, we used Ahwatukee, AZ in our addresses. The post office even had that on the sign. When it got annexed by Phoenix, we became Phoenix. Maybe that is true for Anthem as well. Either way, its the zip that gets the mail to you.

Either works - it is use of the correct zip code that matters.

Anthem is on track to be annexed by the city of Phoenix.

Interesting. If someone lives in Anthem, maybe they will post and tell me what they use. Who knew a zip code could cause such confusion, LOL (i.e. Google weather search brings up New River and Phoenix vs. Anthem).
