If You're thinking About Moving To Phoenix..
You might want to reconsider. Why? In a nutshell, the entire Phoenix metro area is not the ideal place for a big metropolis like Houston, and I believe we have reached the threshhold on growth, we can't take anymore new residents here. The population of Phoenix is now around 2 million, and I believe it's almost 4 million for the entire metro area. Right now we're not prepared for the huge influx of population. Our freeway system is barely adequate right now, and in about a little over a year, we're going to have our light rail system up and running, but even with that, at the current growth rate we have, in about 5-10 years, you may not see Phoenix as the "peaceful" little desert town it once was just a couple of decades ago.
The over-building and urban sprawl with concrete, asphalt and all of the roof tiles have also changed our weather. Not too long ago, we used to get monsoon storms almost everyday, beginning in mid July and the entire month of August. Now the urban sprawl has created it's own weather system that pushes storm systems away.
I didn't move here, I was born and raised in Phoenix, so if you're thinking about moving here, please reconsider..

The weather thing is very strange...
I've been waiting for rain for the last week or so and nothing yet, and if you take a look at the radar maps, the storms have been coming from the SE toward Phoenix but as soon as they approach the metro area, they either head south or dissipate, it's as if there is an invisible wall...they always seem to stop in a semi circle fashion around the city.

I think that's why we have so many people moving here now, they visited, liked the place and moved.

Like it or not, Phoenix is one of the fastest growing US metros. Tons of companies are coming to the Valley plus the many companies already here are expanding. The Phoenix economy is booming and people are following the job market. The growth in the Valley is amazing; even the once-barren downtown area of Phoenix is recieving tons of new construction projects.
But with the influx of people (the Phoenix metro has over 4 million people), there come challenges. They're widening the freeways and the METRO (light rail) is expanding but it's just not fast enough to keep up with the growth. Slowly but surely.

I agree Mike!! No one else move here! Please!!! Stay away!!! Read all the posts from Steve-o, irwin and a few others who hate it here, take it all to heart and stay where you are. The less people who move here, the better it is for those of us who like it

Just keep the scorpion posts coming. Those will scare away anyone who is unable or unwilling to adapt to desert life.

I've lived there for years and never seen one desert creature except for lizards. Thank God!
