Depends on what part of Phoenix. Are you looking for more of a suburban area, or the inner city areas? Bus service is available in almost every part of Phoenix, but it is more limited the more outward you go. Downtown & the Central Corridor have the best mass transit options due to the frequency of light rail & buses. Also, I seem to remember that Sunnyslope, Maryvale, south Phoenix, and Metrocenter areas have pretty good availability of bus service as well. The only problem is those areas aren't very desirable.

I used to get around on the bus system many years ago when I was younger and poorer because I couldn't afford a car at the time ... and it was pretty lousy then. I can honestly say that it has improved quite a bit in most areas of Phoenix over the years, but the transit options still aren't as massive as cities like New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Boston, etc. ... and probably never will be.

In my own personal experience being a native of Phoenix, it is much more convneinet to have your own car. Driving sometimes gets to be a pain with the heavy traffic and stupidity of drivers, but it is easier than getting around on the buses ... especially during the summer months when waiting outside in the heat adds to the discomfort even more.

Default Spread out

Phoenix is very spread out with mass transit that is considerably less than what is available in other major cities. To truly enjoy the region in it's full splendor and by this I mean areas of Arizona outside of Phoenix also you need a car. Not having a car in Phoenix would theoretically have an impact on your quality of life there. This holds true for not just Phoenix but the entire state. There is mass transit and buses but waiting around for buses has never been one of my favorite things to do.

You're right about those areas. Most route run buses about every thirty minutes.

Having an extra 5000 in the bank at the end of the year in savings would impact your quality of life, also.
