I may be asking for the impossible, but I need some advice since Rent.com and Apartment.com are not helping as much as I would like.

I'm moving from a 1 bedroom apartment downtown (moving in with an older sibling to save money). We are trying to find a 2 bedroom, 2 bath for under $900 a month in the area I specified in the title.
As I said, this is probably impossible.

It needs to be within walking (or bike-riding) distance of the light rail, because I do NOT drive and my current apartment was perfect. Both my job and apartment are less than 4 blocks from the light rail...but the building is for low-income and with my income and my brothers together we will not qualify.

The only other things another apartment needs is to be relatively bug free (current apartment has never had a single bug in it, ever, and I like it that way), close to light rail and if they came with a washer and dryer in the apartment that would be nice, but not a deal breaker either way.

Hoping someone will know some places that can match my (horrifyingly picky) standards.

My place would not fit your needs but there are many complexes along and near Apache Blvd that are walking distance to light rail. Not sure what you'll find in Phoenix proper. I don't recall seeing much on the ride in. I suggest riding into Tempe for the day and scouting places, grab lunch/dinner and ride home. I'd be shocked if you didn't find what you're looking for.

Not sure how many places have washer/dryer in the apt. I've not seen that anywhere that was not $$$.

I was getting 850 for a 2/2 with 1 cg and that was back in 1997, at 21st Ave & Northern. I live near IS and Central, and there are some nice apartments, but they are really crammed together, and they look pricey. Empirian At Steele Park Apartments in Phoenix, AZ | Phoenix Apartments For Rent. This is 411 E. IS. Let us know what you find out, but I get the feeling you want something higher end, and that will come with a higher price tag.

Have you considered renting a condo? Here is a 2 bed/2 bath at Hawthrone Condos at Indian School & 3rd Ave. It's $850 and looks pretty nice in the pictures.

Phoenix - Hawthorne - 3848 N 3RD Avenue Unit 2032 (http://www.weknowurban.com/Phoenix/Hawthorne/Rentals/3848-n-3rd-avenue-unit-2032-phoenix-az-4522105/ - broken link)

There is also Camden Copper Square at 9th St and Van Buren, prices online show around $1000 but maybe they have some incentives?

Parcel 118-28-176 looks like an investor bought that last November. Offer them 750, if your credit is good.

That's pretty cool, but considering I would be living with my brother I would definitely need two bedrooms and two bathrooms. I'm a girl, I would take over the bathroom if we only had one and we are both adults...we definitely need separate rooms

How close to downtown (Phoenix?) are you wanting ... and how far east is "further east"? Remember, the light rail as it is now starts at Christown (19th Avenue & Montebello) and runs all the way into west Mesa. There are lots of options for apartments or condos along or near this line, including many in the Central Corridor area. Not sure what the rent prices are, but $900 a month doesn't sound too cheap for what you're looking for.

I work in downtown Tempe, and I drive by quite a few apartment and/or condo complexes on the way ... including quite a few on Washington Street, and many along or near Ash Avenue. All of these are either on or within walking distance of light rail stations.
