Oh I hate those fuzzy bees too! We had a palm tree by our front yard and they were always all over it. It was actually on my neighbors property, he finally cut it down.

Angry Bugs Everywhere

It is so disgusting! I am trying to find out what they are and the best way to get rid of them. Quickly. There are hundreds upon hundreds here. Everywhere I look I find a new one. At night it gets worse. I can't even walk outside without bringing ten back in the house. I hate them!

There is no swarm of black bugs. The stories in the paper are small isolated incidents involving either some plant flowers with bugs or flea beetles. This is the desert, this is their environment, this is where humans invaded that environment. Think of what those bugs are saying about the humans moving in and taking over their territory.

Around this time of the year the only black bugs you'll see in Arizona's desert regions are the secada bugs. They are about three-quarters of an inch in length, and you'll hear them, because they make sort of a buzzing sound, and when you have about a thousand of them in one area, it can get annoying. They're quiet at night so that's good, and they don't stick around for too long, they come in during the monsoon season and they die around the end of August. I know when I was a kid I always had fun shooting them with a sling shot in the backyard - PETA will probably get on my case for that.. ah who cares!
