The Fiesta bowl is in big trouble. John Junker, Strip clubs, Russell Pearce "gifts", illegal political donations, Maricopa County Sheriffs Department (Brown, a Maricopa County Sheriff's Office lieutenant who received $182,000 a year to moonlight as security consultant for the Fiesta Bowl), employee weddings paid by the Fiesta Bowl, and much more...

The BCS has asked the Fiesta Bowl to "to demonstrate why it should remain a BCS bowl game."

The financial hit to the area would be huge, estimates put it at about $420 million.

That will be the "official" reason for pulling the game. The real reason is AZ's hard line on immigration and the national perception of this state as a one filled with of racist, right-wing knuckle-draggers that it has earned us. And that is not far from the truth.

I'd be surprised if no other major bowl host cities have the same circumstances. Problem though is that these guys got caught.

Don't get me started on the universities......

We'll just leave the bowl game host cities to progressive, anti semitic, left wing Marxists.

It's very far from the truth.

It would also be very bad for AZ to not only lose the fiesta bowl, but also lose out of the BCS title game rotation and see a hit to the insight bowl (which has been gaining in stature)

The stadium is a gem, the area can handle the event very well and the weather is perfect for travelling fans ...... these are all very good things going in the favor of the metro.

However, the BCS in general has had it's share of detractors. The focus of corruption, etc on them as an enterprise gets fairly hot from time to time.

With the shiny new ego-dome in Dallas opening up and the cotton bowl currently being out of the rotation it would be very easy for the BCS to swap out the fiesta and insert cotton .... a building that could potentially draw more revenue than the fiesta (as long as it's not blundered like the SB)

Yeah, I agree. The BCS got the "reason" they needed by the plain stupidity and arrogance of these people.

The BCS has asked the Fiesta Bowl to "to demonstrate why it should remain a BCS bowl game." It appears that it is not 'if" but 'when" the BCS officially leaves the Fiesta Bowl.

KTAR and 910 sports have reported that the Cotton bowl is the leading candidate to replace the fiesta Bowl. For those wondering, the Cotton bowl is now played in the Dallas Cowboys new stadium.

There are not enough progressive cities with good weather. I wonder what's up with that. Seriously, if you don't think that SB1070 is playing into this thing, you are truly delusional. Most universities are liberal when it comes to immigration. Even the ones here. We can also forget about any more MLB and NBA all-star games, superbowls. At least we have a second NASCAR event.

LOL.

And a major golf tournament.

SB1070 will slowly fade away into oblivion. Not to worry.

They need to go to a playoff anyway, it's long overdue. Keep utilizing these new stadiums such as the new one in Dallas and just rotate it. Enough with the bowl shenanigans. But yeah, that would be a big loss, even the hotels out here in Chandler were completely booked for the week, and I saw teams fans all over the place in the area spending money.

They would still have the Fiesta Bowl, no? It would just not be a BCS championship event. Maybe we would go back to the days when ASU played every year.
