Hello all,
I am hoping to get some much needed information to help me out with a move we may be looking at making to the Phoenix area.

We are thinking of moving to Arizona during my husbands off months from work which would be Oct/Nov ish till Feb/ March ish ......(4-6 months per year) we may end up there eventually longer....possibly even all year so I know it gets hot there in the summer months (We use to live in Las Vegas) can I expect it to be much worse then their summer?? Also when does it start to get to that really really hot months? May/ June??? till when???

We are also looking at purchasing a mobile home so we are looking for energy costs for summer months?? I heard that some mobiles never even cool down is that true?? Do you need special insulation or anything that we should look for in our purchase?? I'm also looking for safe / nice/ cheaper mobile parks ...can anyone share info on what areas and parks I should stay away from or are known to be problems or good? Crime would be a big concern since we may not be there for all year. We can look at any type family or 55 plus (since we have no kids) but they must be pet friendly.

Any area Sunrise/ Phoenix, Scottsdale, Chandler, Mesa (any surrounding areas that are with in easy commute to Phoenix since most of his work will be in that area.

I'm also looking at Sedona area (for temp. wise as well) I know thats further away.

Any ideas or suggestions would be welcome..... we are a pretty active 40/50's couple so any info you can provide would be helpful.

Heat is a personal tolerance thing. I think most of us would say it gets really hot toward the end of June and stays that way until mid-September. It is more humid here in July and August than it is in LV as well, although that makes it greener in the desert and leads to more cooling (somewhat) thunderstorms as well

Mobile home parks around here strike me as being either rather trashy or retiree-oriented. There are dozens of the latter type in East Mesa. Many, many people in that area do the same as you are considering - having a mobile for winter use. I would think options include buying a lot, renting a lot or buying or renting both.

Condo fees are a lot more reasonable than MHP fees. There are some nice condos in the 20s.

We have considered buying a home or lot with mobile as well but I do not want to head into retirement with a mortgage (and that is only 10 years for hubby and 12-15 for me) We also considering renting but there is not much in the way of short term rentals...another idea is getting a RV again and staying in that but we really need a base place and it is two expensive here for that so we thought of having the base in AZ and the "camper / RV" here (NJ) since we will be here for the summer
