Default Living in Anthem?

Just wondering if anyone in this forum lives in Anthem and if so what can you tell me about living there? While out there a few years ago we stopped in New River to grab something to eat. Spoke with a real nice young girl who moved out there from Ohio ( we're from Michigan) and she was telling how much more she liked living north of the valley than when she lived in the valley. Not sure what it is about Anthem but I've seen it on Househunters and it just seems like a great place to live. Is it a good family community? Is there a lot to do for the kids? My youngest is 10 and would be 12 if and when we moved out there. So any personal info you can share would be great.

If your kids are only interested in playing in the park or other team based sports, they'll love it. If they want more of the "big city" type of activities, get ready to do a lot of driving.

We live just south of Anthem near I-17 and Carefree Highway and plan to list our house for sale at the end of the year. Its really pretty up here, but after living here for almost two years we're preparing to move to the Kierland area of Scottsdale.

We've learned after living here the "creature comforts" we had when we lived back in the Dallas area, they aren't as easily accessible this far north of Phoenix.

Anthem is a great community for families. Here is a link to the Anthem website Visitor's Guide | Online At Anthem

Below is a link to the Anthem community magazine. It is usually 40 to 50 pages and is published monthly. Plenty of things to do, as you will see when you visit the links.

LOTS of driving if you live in Anthem. It's very much a SUB-division a good 1/2 hour out of phx, and you will find yourself driving to PHX a LOT for doctors, to meet friends, churches, etc. Large houses for cheap but very boring area... if you are, like me, someone who needs a trader joe's, whole foods, etc, don't do it. Live in Scottsdale. If you need a walmart, applebees and albertson's you may like it. :0)

Last I checked...

Scottsdale Applebees 2 - Anthem 0.

Scottsdale Walmarts 4 (including Tatum) - Anthem 1.

Scottsdale Albertsons 7 (again including 2 on Tatum) - Anthem 0

Any other Snobsdale antidotes?

If you want a "new" house with an open floor plan for decent money Anthem may be a way to go. For a higher price you can get get an older house(may be updated inside)(I'm including the parts of Phoenix around the Scottsdale airport) with about 4x the yard. The schools will be just as good if not better and you will be closer to the types of things that Anthem doesn't offer.

Anthem is a great little town. Its perfect for raising a family, extremely safe, has a community center with pool and tons of activities to do. Got all your needs and is a great place.

Oh, please. How about some facts instead of preposterous hyperbole? Anthem is not the perfect place for everyone. Nor is Scottsdale.

The OP asked if Anthem was a good family community, and is there a lot to do for kids. The links I provided show that there is plenty to do for kids, and Anthem really is a great family community. Who cares that there is only one Walmart instead of four. Then there is another post stating "you will find yourself driving to PHX a LOT for doctors, to meet friends, churches, etc." LOL...yeah right, no doctors or churches in Anthem, and you can't make friends there!

It appears that the few somewhat negative posts are from folks who don't live in Anthem. I'd like to see more from people who actually live there, and that's what the OP asked for too.

My family and I live in Anthem and have 2 school age boys. We have been renting in the Country Club. My younger son is 10 and has been playing baseball with the High Desert League. The baseball fields are in Anthem. The community park is really nice especially the playground and train if you have young kids. If your new to the area I would definately recommend renting first on the Parkside of Anthem. There are more kids there as well as additional small parks. We relocated from Boston so I find the area a bit remote and slow paced for me but some people love it. You might also want to check out Cave Creek. The schools are rated high and the area is beautiful and right above Scottsdale. Also be aware of the high water bills in parts of Anthem as they have private water and the rates have just gone up. Good Luck!
