What are the odds? I was concerned about scorpions before I moved here, but 10 years later, I have yet to see one. I think it's been a blessing that we are in an infield community in Chandler, not near the open desert, or foothills. Don't think any of my neighbors have ever seen one, either.

I completely disagree......I've lived here 3 years, play in a band and have met an insane amount of ppl at my shows and just being out and about. Scorpions have come up everytime in conversation.....in fact, there hasn't been one instance the topic hasn't come up. Out of all the ppl I've met I have only met 4 or 5 ppl who dont have a problem with them. In fact I only know 2 ppl right now that don't have them and they live in Apartments, but still see them...I've seen one in the house in 3 years, but as I stated in a previous post the houses by the greenbelt in my subdivision are infested and one home owner I spoke to one evening told me he catches an avg. of 40 per night during the summer in his backyard and around the backside of his walls. I saw his bounty that same evening we spoke in 2 full plastic beer cups. His neighbor, an elderly woman has him sweep her house as well. Why else would there be signs on the side of the road asking "Got Scorpions" and then a phone number to call? From Glendale to Gilbert....I've heard it all....here is a video from a neighboring neighborhood.......The Islands, Gilbert, AZ.

Default scorpion

My daughter had the same thing happen in her bed. The liitle guy got her in the back. We did get medical help which turned out to be unnecessary. But how does one know how serious it is?

As someone who has an irrational fear of scorpions, I really should back out of this thread now.

Because it looks like they are advertising their pest control company.

Actually a number of them are poisonous and a bigger one can give you a nasty bite that can threaten you. So its not just about pests!
