My significant other lives here, that's why I live here and why I stay.

Phoenix isn't hell on earth like some people make it out to be but it's not utopia that many dreamers hope for.

I really don't care for the politics, the legislature, Nickelbag Joe Arpaio, and state government as a whole but I also don't think the corrupt actions of our government represents the majority of the people.

I find most everyone I have come across to be more sensible and moderate than the clowns in charge.

Although the metro area has grown quite a bit in the last few decades, unlike the Los Angeles basin, you can still drive in any direction on any of the freeways from downtown Phoenix, Tempe, Mesa, or Scottsdale, and in about 20 minutes you'll be out in open spaces.
I agree that I could never see myself living in New York City or Chicago, too crowded and not my style.

On the other hand I have never been able to drive 20 minutes away from metropolitan Phoenix and be out in the open spaces, seems like it takes a lot longer with traffic and all.
