Default Dust storm again tonite...

Ancala area thick thick dust and wind - heard of storms up north Peoria/Sun City etc... hail etc... Decided to go for a walk - and not unlike the videos of our Great Haboob of 2011 same thing - huge wall of dust cloud descended - hard to breathe - hard to see - but while very striking and interesting - I got home before any rain - typical blustery wind - not powerful etc - and I think it may have 'blown over' -- a few people commenting - one guy, 'oh no not again - my poor pool - so aggravating' - another 'not again!' - someone else - 'they call it a haBOOOOOB' lol.... he sounded MAD

The most striking thing was how walking in it with breezy wind was really making breathing a chore - and how brown the air was... Anyone else see this tonight?

had a little rain at my place in Goodyear and some sprinkles on the commute home .... madening traffic .... i was on I-10 when it swept across .... pretty much everyone stopped and waited for it

closer to my exit I saw a trucker pulled over standing in front of his rig with a camcorder getting footage

I guess I'll be keeping a supply of dust masks in my car and at my house once I move there.

Interesting...I believe I saw two of these in Phoenix in July of 1996 or 97. I thought they were pretty regular occurrences in July, but the news is making them sound like they're once-in-a-lifetime things that just happened to happen twice this month.

Am I wrong? Having never experienced one before, did I only think I saw two back then?

No these dust walls are not uncommon and you will get these every couple years. It's because there hasnt been many monsoons yet to harden the ground so there is a lot of loose dirt out there for the storms to pick up.

Also these damn transplants and their stupid haboob talk its a damn dust wall.

THAT's how to win friends and influence people -- let's hear it for 'bad' words ~ so NAUGHTY Hahaha!

Great video on the weather channel tonight - guess the airport had issues due to the brown air from sand/dust ~ I was glad I got to actually walk in this one - as the last one was in the distance and I didn't 'recognize' it for what it was and just went home to bed from a trip to WalMart...Then woke up to all the mess and news on it the next day...

As long as Jim Cantore doesn't show up - I'm not scared of no bleepin' 'dust wall'

We watched as one came up slowly, a pink cloud low on the horizon, getting closer and closer, bigger and bigger. I remember standing outside in it when it hit. I felt like I was being dermabraded! Then there was a refreshing storm afterward that made us lose our power for about 30 minutes.

Didn't get much in Scottsdale tonight - it did look a bit ominous to the west, and the sky was a bit dustier than normal, but nothing like the big one we just had...

East Mesa here. No dust storm at all. A few clouds and a little windy at times but a very pleasant evening.
To the west of us didn't look so good though..
