the municipal limits of Cave Creek are now much larger than they used to be.....old Cave Creek, that very small area along far north Cave Creek Road N of Carefree Hwy and just west of Carefree, is what some old-timers think of as the extent of Cave Creek....but it has grown a lot in the last ten or so years and now covers many square miles to the south almost to the Desert Ridge areas......just so everybody knows!

it's not a bargain, but there will be many foreclosures/short sales available....lots of cookie-cutter subdivisions....you'll have to drive for everything, probably....low-density and spread out....

shopping is typical strip-mall stuff/chains/the usual...if your wife needs upscale shopping, Carefree and N Scottsdale are a few miles away....

open space is available at Spur Cross Ranch in N Cave Creek, Black Mountain for hiking (google for the trail info), and the many desert areas all around and away from the urban areas....yup, you'll need to drive there....

somebody else will need to comment on schools

A new Wal-mart is under construction at Cave Creek Rd and Carefree Highway. The intersection is a mess right now with the underground utilities being installed.

If you don't mind driving for the "big" stuff, then you'll probably like it out there. We considered moving there when we moved here two years ago, but the houses were out of our price range at the time. My wife is a former educator in Texas and has heard good things about the Cave Creek school district.
