...have...to...stay...strong.

It's about that time of year where the heat is really starting to wear me down.
We have until about the first week of October and then we should be in the clear for the next 8 months.

Looking at last year's calendar, the first week of October brought temps int he low 80s and while we did end up having a couple days in the mid 90s the following week, the rest of the month was 70s and 80s.

It didn't hit mid 90s again until May and we didn't see 100+ until June 15th.

I always consider Labor Day to be the breaking point, HX.

Usually by then the Humidity drops enough to cut the a/c and open the windows and doors most evenings.

Also, there's nothing more refreshing than a casual Bike Ride along the Rillito after Sunset.

For me the relief begins when the monsoon (or non-soon as it appears to be again this year) ends which is right around Labor Day most years. The heat is still there but the cooler mornings come back. I can live with that.

Labor Day as in September 5th? Oh no no...last year it was 102 on that day with 82 for the low.

We did have a few days in the low-mid 90s with lows in the low-mid 70s but also had 106/80 on Sept 19th and several 100+ through the end of the month.

On a side note...September 5th is my our 2 year anniversary and we had some freak weather 2 years ago on that date...freak as in it was only 88 degrees that day! The day before it was 99 and the next day it was 95. It was actually the only day the whole month that was in the 80s..everything else was high 90s and low 100s!

Labor Day . . . give or take 5.

I'm fine with 100 plus degrees during the day as long as the humidity is down in the teens or single digit range and the lows are in the 70's or lower.

Roll on the cooler weather. When you can actually sit outside and enjoy a cup of coffee and take in the view. Weird thing is, being a transplant from England, where I always moaned about the never ending rain, no proper summers, I never thought I would hear myself saying that I was sick of the heat - lol. I did live in Africa when I was a child but you appear to cope with the heat better when you are children!!!! See, it is possible to moan about the weather wherever you are

I was there the first week of April and it was in the 90's...matter of fact on Saturday April 2nd I believe it was near 100 at PHX. It also hit 100 the first week of May...so maybe the heat really has you burnt out...it's been longer than normal this year.

Eh, it's only 93 on my patio right now. I've been enjoying the last few cloudy, or partly cloudy days. This morning was beautiful. I've cut back my usual snowbird schedule this year and have spent more time in Phoenix than normal for summer. I'll leave for most of fall, I guess. There hasn't been much escape from heat anywhere this year, at least for me.

I agree though, it wears on you after a while. But I'll take it over a MIdwestern winter!

I'm frustrated in that I've gained weight this summer - I would have thought that during my first AZ summer I'd lose an appetite because of the heat ... Sadly that isn't what's happened. Instead I only go for one walk a day at night - and some days even skip it ... I do my daily errands around town and then hole up as if it was a blizzardy day in the Midwest. Not enough activity I guess and boredom sets in and the nerve wracking house hunting issue. I'm like HELP! If I gain weight now - what will happen during the holidays when most people pack on a few pounds - I'll soon fill the grand canyon with my double chin........The heat must stop! Oh okay - I must eat right and exercise in spite of the heat - okay okay not anyone's fault but my own - but just sayin' LOL
