This is the first time I pay my property tax myself, and I'm confused by the due dates.

I notice that the "first half tax is due 10/1/11. Interest penalty after 5pm on 11/1/11".

So if due date is 10/1/11, do I pay penalty if I pay between 10/1/11 and 11/1/11?

If there is no difference, then why not set the due date to 11/1/11?

The answer is in your post...you have 30 days to pay without interest. If you pay AFTER 11/1/11 you will have to pay the interest. If there was only one due date there would be no "grace period".

Due on 10/1/11 and delinquent after 11/1/11.
