What are Coolidge and Florence Areas like?

The good and bad.

Might buy house there but I see a lot of open lots with nothing on them.

What gives?

What gives? The economy. There's not many jobs in the area. I have some cousins who live in or around Coolidge. One works near Casa Grande, another near Florence.

I don't know about the crime rates in the area. I would look them up before moving in.

Florence is probably one of the safest towns to live in. There are 3 prisons in Florence. The headquarters for Arizona Homeland Security is located in Florence. There is also a National Guard station. There is also Pinal County Sheriff's there too. So there are law enforcement uniformed and plain clothes all over the place. The Pinal County headquarters is also in Florence. Very few vacant lots in Florence. Both Florence and Coolidge have town/city police force.

Coolidge is west or southwest of Florence. Coolidge is an old railroad stop. Coolidge does have some HOA's with vacant lots. The urban sprawl basically ended in the Coolidge area. The few HOA's that were started in the area have come to a grinding halt.

There are housing bargains in both Cooldige and Florence as too many homes were built and too many foreclosures.

Del Webb Anthem in Florence is still building new homes.

Thanks all for your input, especially Unit 731. Noticed you have lived in NH. I'm from Maine originally so how will the heat effect me?

I lived in Texas for 12 years and Southeast Asia for 10 years, but I keep hearing Arizona heat is different.

Locolbo13, I won't need a job so that is of no concern to me. What do your cousins say about the area?

I was wondering if there was a shortage of water in the area? Also what are the zoning laws like in the non HOA areas? Are they loose where one can generally do what they want concerning fencing, remodeling, RVs, etc. OR are they tight and very controlling?

Thanks again.
