My wife is from Miami and at least those areas have the beach...in the hell of Phoenix all you have is dirt and a couple puddles some call 'lakes' that are overcrowded to the max.

Interesting theory, Backtochitown

With all due respect, have you visited a beach in Florida during peak season?

Yes I have, and I'll take a crowded beach over the dust/dirt at Tempe 'Beach' anyday...

We wouldn't live in FL either...as we want real seasons/weather.

We like the desert too initially but it wore on us big time...plus everything looks the same in Phoenix...cheaply constructed and generic tract homes and commercial developments...very little character...to each their own but Phoenix is WAY overpriced for what you get these days.

Northern AZ is awesome though and that is why we leave here now. Actual living plants/trees and animals! Imagine that!

Northern Az is gorgeous; at least in the summer------me and '4 seasons' do not get along

As for the newer enclaves in the Phx area; I have to agree------ whereas 40th St/Indian School has 'charactor'.

I wonder how anyone can make it on $11 an hour there. Maybe you should go to school, get a profession, and then look to move. You might find a good job, with an employer who would pay for an interview, and then you can check out the area, and if you accept the job, they might pay relo.

I'll take the humidity over the relenting non-stop sun and dry heat.........just my 2 cents. Being at the beach is the best
