Default Benefits if East Valley were to split from Maricopa County?

I was wondering, does anyont think there would be any benefits if the East Valley were to split from Maricopa County? I have no opinion, however, does anyone here have their own opinions? I know this has been considered in the past, however, I would like to know what you think.

I presume that if a new county were to be created out of the East Valley, it probably would consist of Mesa (county seat), Chandler, Gilbert, Queen Creek, and possibly Scottsdale and Tempe. What does anyone think?

Horrible idea, it's already been studied before (and it didn't include Scottsdale, I'm not sure it included Tempe or even Chandler). Maricopa County already has satellite offices for a lot of the county offices on the east side. Why build the complete infrastructure a second time? I'm sure the NIMBY folks would come out against a big county jail on their side of the Valley.

In Jacksonville, Florida they went the other way. The consolidated the city and county. Eliminated a level of bureaucracy. Better way to go....

So, do you really want all of Maricopa County to be part of the City of Phoenix?

Jacksonville's a lot smaller, population and area. Don't even think about it here.

Way too many established municipalities to pull off what Jacksonsville FL, Indianapolis IN or Louisville KY have done in the past (consolidating city/county government)

And way too much of a headache for the East Valley cities to even think about starting their own county.

What would be the benefit to be in another (newly created) county?

That's easy: employment for a few dozen more politicians.

If the new county included Fountain Hills, then we would be rid of Arpaio...

Pardon my ignorance, but what is a NIMBY? A country person?
