That is great news for the Valley of the Sun. I imagine that local fans are thrilled. A big boost for the economy also.

We didn't attend the last Super Bowl here but did partake in other events. The NFL Experience was pretty cool.

I've never seen Westgate so packed!

Looks like the events will be centered in downtown Phoenix this time instead of Scottsdale like last time...good to see.

The article stated one complaint with the previous Superbowl is how the events were dispersed accross the Valley. The same thing will happen again in 2015 when party goers and diners will flock to Scottsdale. I'm very hopeful for downtown but it is missing a lot of venues. We recently had a medical meeting there last year and there were many complaints about the lack of ammenities in downtown Phoenix. We may not get that same meeting again. I and several others are pitching Scottsdale and claiming it was a mistake to host the event in downtown for that reason. I like downtown Phoenix and hope it blossoms into our entertainment district one day but it's a long way from that in the foreseeable future. I just don't see people remaining in downtown in 2015 unless downtown Phoenix makes a lot of progress in 3.5 years with regard to it's nightlife. While it's nightlife is growing, it pales in comparison to Old Town Scottsdale. I just don't see downtown adding a lot of restaurants, bars, clubs and shops in the next 3.5 years for people to remain there instead of driving to Scottsdale. In other words, I don't see the Playboy, Maxim and Heineken parties being held in downtown Phoenix. Arizona and the city need to upgrade downtown quickly or we could lose out on the next Superbowl if everyone drives to Tempe and Scottsdale. In other words, they can't do things in the typical slow downtown Phoenix manner in which things take three times as long to develop

in 2008, I was walking around downtown Scottsdale one eve before the Bowl parties got started that night and, evidently, accidently walked between the "velvet ropes" of one place along the sidewalk.....the very attractive young lady attendant loudly questioned where I was going (nobody was in line at all and nobody was even anywhere near!)....a bit P.O.'d, I told the SPD officer standing there that I guess the locals are second-class citizens this weekend....he, of course, denied it....

after the weekend was over, another SPD officer told me that many of the out-of-town visitors were among the most arrogant people she'd ever seen....

some here may remember that there were a few significant delays/complaints at Scotts airport with all the corporate jets leaving at the same time after the weekend was over....that may have been part of the reason Phx lost the 2012 Bowl when it tried for it......

rant over!.....

I do hope it goes well in 2015 and I do hope downtown Phx gets a piece of the action, too.....I think DT Phx wasn't quite so happenin' in 2008 as it is now, so that may help....it'll probably be even more of a destination in 2015....however, many of the visitors will be very wealthy and think Scottsdale is the place they should be.....

good for Arizona!.....
