A look at today's newspaper would have answered that question.

Yes, its pretty warm in winter. That is why all the snowbirds want to be here and not in their former hometowns, where its 5 below. Its warm enough to be outside without shivering, wearing a light jacket and shorts. I gave away all my heavy parkas when I moved here. So now , when I go back to Chicago for holidays, I am freezing !!

what is "warm?" I read that people who live in cold climates get nerve damage and then desensitized to cold weather. Hence how I observed when I was in Akron Ohio early one April and it was snowing but people had mountain bikes on racks and were headed out as if it truly was spring! And hence when I saw people in bathing suits at a lake in Alaska the same day of the morning I froze my behind off and turned on my space heater in my cabin one August.

I worked in cold climates but always bundled up because I did not want to become "accustomed" to cold. My official residences since 1985 have been in desert climates. And I have lived in the high California desert where winters can be even colder than, say, Tucson. I would get snow a few times a year in the California desert.

Temperatures can get down to 30 degrees in Phoenix. That is why people have fireplaces. I have on in my apartment. The cold temps can happen in December through February.

In the suburbs, on the coldest days temps can drop into the mid 20s'. It's definitley not pleseant. However the afternoons are absolutely perfect.

Very true Howard but it also explains why some people can't tolerate our summers. Some people prefer cold and feel that 30 degrees is short and flip flop weather so 105 degrees to them is miserable. When people make the argument "Yeah but in a really cold winter, you can just wear additional layers and you are fine" That hasn't been my experience but then again I grew in southern California so obviously I'm more sensitive to cold than heat. It depends where you are coming from I guess.

Depends on what you mean by warm.

People from the upper midwest like me usually think it is midly warm in the winter, still cool enough at night for a jacket though.

Someone from Florida or southern Texas would probably think of our winters as too cold. It can dip below freezing once in a while from December to February.
