I have it at 76-77 at night, but I also have a stand up fan on my every night as I love air circulating (no ceiling fan on as my bf HATES fans). We used to have it at 75-76, but are getting used to it up a degree or two.

Well, if you get cold, why in the world are you keeping it at 75?! Or maybe it's because of your warmer half. Remember when Jennifer Anniston and Brad Pitt were getting married, they had a written agreement outlining various petty things and one of the clauses in it was splitting the difference of the thermostat preferences.

ACs obviously are an absolute necessity around here, but I hate the way they're being used. It seems like the more prosperous an establishment is, the more they feel obligated to freeze your rear end off. That's one of the reasons I don't go to the movies as much as I'd like to. Being in a meatlocker with insanely blasting sound just doesn't appeal to me. On the other hand, it's not as cold in the cheap theaters... Prosperity all the way! By the time I'm out of a grocery store or a mall, I'm almost shaking. It was the same in my old office. Didn't turn on the AC in my car on my way home - needed to get thawed. That office was rented, though, with utilities included. Now my company owns our office and guess what... it's a loooooot more livable... just as I suspected it would be.

I usually keep the temperature at home at about 78-80. Sometimes it goes down to about 76.

Mine is set @ 78° all year with ceiling & floor
fans plus I keep the humidity @ 30%

One thing most people don't check on in
Arizona is the insulation in the roof along
with the ventilation

Yeah you got it exactly right. My warmer half. She likes it cold. I told her many people in here like it around 77-78(on average). She said, those people must be foreigners, not the people born in usa. I gaveeeeee up.

That's funny. It's usually the guys who are warmer. In my case, your wife's got a point. I wasn't born here. And I always wonder how the poor babies make it in these freezing places. I have hard time explaining to people how you freeze to death in AZ in summer... Once I was invited by friends to Boston for Christmas. When I heard the temp in their bedrooms is 63 at night... I said "no way, Jose!"

IMO, there are a few reasons for this insanity:

- in some professional-looking work environments (not that those are common in AZ... ) you have to wear suits
- employers try to keep you uncomfortable, so you can slave more efficiently instead of dozing off
- too many overweight people - they're always hot

We keep it at 77 to 78 during the day and after hubby goes to bed I turn it up to 79 or 80. We have a ceiling fan right over the bed and the ceilings are only 8 ft high so I freeze if I don't turn the A/C up. I'm from Boston and my husband is a native of Phoenix so figure that one out. I guess I am more sensitive to cooling and I absolutely hate cold weather and absolutely will take the 100 + degree days.
