It was while under Giuliani, that's why conservatives are giving him a hard time now, I think Bloomberg just made it worse.

Thank you.

P.S.: Villaraigosa is in a lot of hot water over his g/f. *Especially* with the Latino women because she (Telemundo anchor Mirthala Salinas) was the one who announced on air that Villar (as he's referred to in CA) and his wife had separated. So, not sure how long the welcome mat will be laid out for Mexican nationals. Baca & Delgadillo are in hot water too - Baca for releasing Paris Hilton and having one standard for the rich and Hollywood types and anther for the average Jane/Maria. Delgadillo is in trouble over his wife's lack of car insurance and bench warrant for her arrest. Personally, I don't think that any of them stand a chance for re-election.

You're right about traffic in So Cal not being so bad, at least not living up to it's legend, I think Phoenix is actually now worse, though everyone in Phoenix will deny that and insist that LA is worse even though most have never driven there at all.

CA drivers are much more courteous, while driving through LA on the 405 in traffic I noticed that when I signaled, people actually moved out of the way to let me in, while in Arizona they speed up and try to block you from changing lanes. So sad that Arizona drivers are that mean and angry.

That's why I stopped signaling years ago when you signal they speed up and on't let you in. You have to sneak up on them..

Yes it's sad Phoenix was a pretty nice place in the 80's and 90's. Poor planning and too many unlicensed, un-insured non-citizens or to quote the AZ Republic undocumented. I think they are documented and are actually carrying around some of our documents. Use shredders don't throw anything in the garbage.

And the saddest part is that many of our Latinos are US citizens who may suffer due the selfish actions of the illegals.

OTOH: I once ran into a Mexican (real one born there) with a German surname and spoke correct English-------she admitted that the authorities overlooked her plus the fact that she was White, not brunette also threw off suspicion.

My husband would agree.

Phoenix and the surrounding area is the spider at the center of a huge web sucking the life out of this state.

Please don't make the mistake of moving to this hell hole in the desert.

We have nothing but chain restaurants, chain shopping malls and no real entertainment. Sure you can tube down the salt river but ask yourself why in 4 hours of drinking and floating in tubes does no one leave to go to the bathroom...I personally don't want to float in a toilet.

Phoenix has some of the rudest and most uneducated drivers in the country. I have a CDL so I know what good driving is...you will learn NOT to use your turn signal as it merely causes the driver in the other lane to speed up not to let you in. If you have driven on the freeways you will have one time or another followed someone going 45 in the left fast lane...whom will not move but rather slam on their brakes to "tech you a lesson". The illegals and most Mexican drivers while they cant read the English signs and learned to drive in Mexico where anything goes will also be driving waaay to slow...they have to as one accident or ticket will cause them to be shipped back to their cess pit of a country.

The heat...sure November threw April is fairly nice... but why would you want to live in a state where the summer where your supposed to be enjoying the outdoors is spent rushing from your air conditiond car to the air conditioned mall.... why not move to Cali where its nice all year round...are you a glutton for punishment?

The Monsoon season is technically NOT a monsoon...ask any weather professional...our dust storms don't meet the requirement of a monsoon. Its nice to know you can never keep your car clean out here as the evenings are filled watching a 30 mile wide by mile high dust cloud sweep across the city....yay.

Anything south of Thomas and west of Central avenue is basically Mexico...go ahead take a drive down Washington west of Central...you'll swear you missed the border crossing gate.

Scottsdale (Snottsdale)...lol...absolutely chock full of fakes, losers, liars, cheaters and well $30,000 a year millionaires. They bought homes during the housing boom using crazy nothing down interest only loans too stupid to realize in 3 years their payments would fully adjust which is why you now see more homes for sale and in foreclosure in this city than any other city in the Phoenix metro area. Their leased wanna be Hummer H2's and BMW 3 series are all getting repoed....which is also why you see so many stores closing in this part of town.

Sports...well the Cardinals are arguably the worst team in sports...and who wants to watch a game where your sweating so bad you slide off the bench seats...lol

Things I enjoy about Phoenix? let me really try to think... AJ's fine foods...now theres a great store...best idea in grocery stores ever. Ummm what else...hmmmmm.....I cant take my dog to the dog park even though its September and 110 out...Gilbert has the best dog park in the country the Cosmo Dog Park...but nope...my dog will die of heat exhaustion....ummmm let me think.... OH!!! Beautiful Sunsets...but then again so does every other state in the Union... Ok ummm the desert...LOL folks actually think its beautiful not to see any forests or trees that don't have spines...every thing out here has pricks on it...well that kind of sums up most folks attitudes here in the sweat pit from hell.

You've been warned.

Curious...where are you moving to? And a pic you posted at Scottsdale Rd. in Carefree....do you live in Terrevita by chance?

Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Some of us like it here and many of your so called "facts" are OPINIONS. You are going out of your way to post every negative of Phoenix while pointing out none of the positives. Arizona sunsets are not like any other state. Phoenix roads are MUCH better than many other major cities in the US, go check out some roads in the East if you want to see cracks. Crime is mostly centralized instead of widespread and much of it is NOT violent crime. My idea of perfect weather is NOT snow in my OPINION.

So please move, we don't need the negativety.

I dare you to list 5 good things about Phoenix that cant be had in other cities or cant be easily refuted. (PS 115 degree heat is not "good"..you can die from it)

Well I have to agree about the heat factor here, it sure can be torture. Many of the Az natives seem to like it, but they probably were desert dwellers from day one, who knows. And as a small town simple country girl, have too, experienced my share of rude, high speed lifestyle people out there, and though its probably everywhere. just personally, have never seen it to the extent as the Phx metro areas.
Im not real fond of the heat, but probably pretty much am 'here' 'just because'. Dont mistake me, if the right opportunity opened up elsewhere, theres no reason to hold back here, but to each their own, eh?

But for now, many of us pretty much 'bite it' and go about our lives the best we can.

Unhappy gee, whats wrong with BINGO?

quote=Mathiasthegreat;1417151]I already refuted most of this and provided proof above but Ill comment again:

Perfect Winter weather.

No perfect winter weather is Snow and Fall and seasons...what do you call AZ summers? Id rather be in a place with perfect summers.

Low taxes.

As opposed to what ZERO in Nevada..same climate...better attractions...or RI or FL....lol come on.

Good jobs.

Errr what? as opposed again to where... there are good jobs everywhere its not state dependant.

Many lakes in the area.

Less than any other state...check it out.

Lower cost of living.

WRONG Az ranked 34th out of 50...thats not low. Proof: Cost of Living 1st Quarter 2007

Better streets than most cities.

See above...

Great lifestyle.

Ahhh for what? retired blue collar workers to live in trailer parks, visit the casinos and play bingo? Are you delusional?

No earthquakes, fires, hurricanes, tornados...

Umm so we don't have brush fires? Ill take a tornado over deadly heat any day.[/quote]
you mean to tell me those people playing slots and Bingo with me are BLUE COLLAR workers? I am pretty uppper crust, I wish someone had told me thissssssssssssss.

The #1 thing I like about Phoenix:

It saved my grandfather's life. The medical care here is second to none and he would have been dead long ago if it wasn't for the doctors here. Also, he doesn't have to shovel snow. He loves his neighbors and they love him and he spends all day at the pool and at parties. He's living it up with extremely limited retirement income. His property taxes are $600 vs. the $5,600 he paid back east. YAY PHOENIX!
