Default Fountain Hills question.

I am considering moving to fountain hills in three to five years and read on a post here about FH growing to a max of 30-35k residents and is now about 25k residents.

My question is, are there any new construction townhouses/condos going up now or any plans for new construction in the next couple years in FH? And if so what side of town has land available? I was just in FH in November and really like the town and was curious. Im not dead set on new construction, and have seen many newer townhouses and condos for sale priced pretty fairly as well. Thanks

Fountain Hills is a great area to purchase a home or build your own. You're correct, right now it's around 25k residents and is projected to grow to around 30k within 5 years.

With the recession, I don't believe there are any NEW construction condos/townhomes being built but I'm not 100% positive. There are a good number of newER style townhomes/condos on the market for a GREAT price.

Would you entertain buying an actual house? There are some WONDERFUL properties in Fountain Hills that are an absolute BARGAIN at the moment. Are you looking at retiring?

There are vacant lots available scattered throughout, although not a huge number.
We've been here almost 2 years now, and I haven't really seen anything new being built. But then again relatively little new residential construction anywhere the past few years. Likewise for condos.

There are some good deals on existing homes of course, but if your timeline is 3-5 years out, then getting some land now may be something to consider.

I guess u could call it a mid life mini retirement. Me and the soon to be wife will quit working for a year when we move out there. I am pretty set on a townhouse or condo for a low maintenance lifestyle. Thanks! Anyone else have any more info?

Default Housing Options

I moved to Fountain Hills in August 2011 and rented until November when I purchased a flipped townhome. Agree with comments that at this time I don't believe new construction is available, but that many excellent properties are being resold. The last remaining tracts to the north of town are designated to be single family properties (to the best of my knowledge). However, another consideration here is the gemini home, which in other parts of the country is known as a duplex. Here they're unique in that many have no adjoining wall at all. These are usually connected by only a stucco wall and gate. Also, don't know where you're from, but upkeep here is minimal compared to midwest and northern locales. No lawns to mow, no snow. Foliage can be chosen for slow growth properties and most landscapes have a drip-type irrigation system. Suggest you plan an extended visit to learn about your options. Happy hunting!

Thanks for the info. I am from the Chicago area so am very familiar with snow, crap weather, crap roads, high taxes of all kinds, oh and did I mention the crappy weather. I wouldn't be against living in a "duplex" if it was nice. Maybe they'll start building in 3-4 years which would be perfect. The girl and I are pretty dead set on FH. Thanks!

I want the low maintenance lifestyle as well!

I'm from south suburbs of Chicago (Frankfort area) so I understand the desire for a friendlier climate. Seems half of Fountain Hills is from Chicago area. (Lyons Township High regularly holds a reunion in FH because so many former students live here.) Unforeseen benefit: your life is no longer dictated by the weather. In Chicago there was an urgency to be outdoors on a nice day, so as not to miss it. Here...well, tomorrow's going to be nice too, so no pressure!
