Default Renting- Phoenix/Scottsdale, 3-4 Bedroom Apartment?

We are looking to rent in Phoenix or Scottsdale before buying a house. We are a family with 2 teenagers. Want a very nice apt with at least 3 bedrooms..pool in the location in a very nice location, not too far outside of city. Can spend a good amt as we are renting out our house on the east coast.
Any suggestions?
Many thanks!

Finding a four bedroom in a complex will be hard, I cant think of any that I remember. Three will be doable. Tons of great places with great pools and things like hot tubs, basketball courts, tennis courts, fire pits etc. Define a "good amount" on your budget. NE Phoenix/N Scottsdale area are great areas. But not cheap. I suspect a three bedroom in this part of town you are looking at least $1200 on the low end and way up from there.

Where will you be working? The area is huge and you could easily end up with a 30 or more mile one way commute within a single CITY.

Why not rent an entire house? Way more to choose from if you need 3+ bedrooms and "very nice "

I don't think you are going to find an apartment of the sort you are looking for with more than three bedrooms. I would be looking for a house, too.

We thought an apt. would be easier than maintaining a house for one year while we figure out where to buy (a house). Ideally we will be near Phoenix as our boys will be attendy Brophy or PCDS...we could take a 3 bedroom. I'm guessing we can spend $1-3,000 month as we are renting out our house in NY.
Does what I'm asking for exist? Oh..and furnished would help too!!
Many thanks!

Furnished? No, those are pretty uncommon any more, and not in the upscale complexes you are looking in. You might find a 3 bedroom, but that's it. You could also look for a townhouse to rent, which would not have the yard upkeep that a house would have.

Try this, but be prepared to pay near the top of your range (which is pretty wide, btw)

CHBO, Corporate Housing by Owner: view Corporate Housing Rentals or Post Corporate Apartments, Houses, Condos, etc.

You might also find something on VRBO® is Vacation Rentals By Owner (http://www.vrbo.com - broken link) and negotiate for a lower price for such a long stay.

Mod interpose -- new thread on same subject, merged with old one:

We are moving to the Phoenix area mid-July and are trying to locate a 3 bedroom or more house or apt to rent for one year. Our boys are going to Brophy so NC or Arcadia would be great. But would also rent in Scottsdale or PV. Must be furnished, have pool..can pay around 3-4,000 a month.

Any ideas?

Many thanks!

I am not the OP. But the maintenance response is always the fastest for rental apartments. That could be the reason. My own complex in southeast Phoenix has three bedroom units and allows dogs. I hesitate to rent a SFH based on my bad experience with the owners. A/C is a matter of life or death in the desert and my cooling went out a few times while the landlord was gone and I was sweltering in above 95 degree temps on more than one weekend. Never again!

Howard, my sympathies. But realistically, this could happen in a home you own yourself,an apartment (yes, that happened to my brothr in a large complex). Best protection for a tenant is a good, solid property management company.
