  • Pulte Red Rock Village - Red Rock, AZ
  • DR Horton Homestead - Maricopa, AZ
  • Shea Homes Kensington at Watson Estates - Buckeye, AZ

Unfortunately for you, none of these are in the location you desire.

Thanks! Although my preference is near Tucson, I'm also considering all of those towns on your list. At least, right now I am. I won't know for sure until I get there to see them all in person. Also want to look into building on my own land rather than in a community.

Really? That's not good. I just went to the websites of all the ones on that list and saw several I could probably afford, but certainly don't want to deal with a bait and switch.

TNP,

What I mean is they will have very few amenities and will be the smallest models in small lots in the center of the subdivions at the very lowest price points. They get you in to look and then convince you to get the nicer cabinets, nicer carpet, a second sink in the master bath etc. when you get there....

You dont HAVE to buy those things, so you can get a house for the price they advertise....its just most people end up paying more since they cant say no to the "extra 20 dollars a month" to add those items.

Ah, ok I get it. I looked at the standard features in the homes in my price range, and I already found myself thinking I'd like to upgrade this and that and that LOL!

TNP:

don't forget the old rules still very much apply....

-location, location, location

-you get what you pay for

-a sucker and his money are soon parted

don't buy any of these sub 100K places....there must be a reason!

Don't forget, too, that a new build will need a lot of things to make it livable like an older house -- window coverings, landscaping, ceiling fans... I don't know if builders even put up things like towel bars.

Not only do many not put up towel bars at the "from the xxx" price you won't get a door or anything on that stall shower or a bunch of other things that are in those nice models and if you want that basic shower door it ain't cheap unless you get it at a box store and do it yourself.
I've always loved those signs saying "from the $120's" never, ever turns out that way, at least that we've ever seen.

Wow, that's good to know. I've always thought a shower door and towel bars would be basic, standard stuff that would automatically be included.

Things like that always have been included, sometimes you have to go to the "design center" for the builder and choose them-- there may be fancier ones that you pay extra for (just like upgrades in carpet and pad, etc), or you will pay for any additional towel rods, say, over a certain number, but the basic ones are included.
