Sorry for the long post...

Last week I came home from work and found a large amount of blood on the sidewalk in front of my home. I followed it down the street and around the corner and it went on all the way to the next block where I found a very large pool of blood where it started. I then followed the trial the other way and found that the trail of blood ended in the driveway of a neighbor two houses down from mine whom I don't know.

There was a LOT of blood and if this was from a person it looked like enough blood loss to kill someone. I immediately went in and called the police to see if this was something they would be interested in.

When I called the non-emergency 24 hour line she was kind of acting weird when she took my information and said an officer would get back to me. About 30 minutes later the same person called me back and all she said was "it was from a dog attack in your neighborhood this morning". I asked, "who was attacked" and she hesitated and said "someone was attacked by two pitbulls that got out of one of your neighbors yards". I then asked, are the dogs still here? She then said "I can't say anymore" and said the blood wasn't anything to worry about at this point and hung up. I tried calling back and was told someone would call me and have not received a call back.

Now the house that is two doors down from me (where the blood trail ends) does have two pitbulls that have gotten out and chased neighbors into their houses. I thought maybe the dogs were taken after the attack but seen both of them out yesterday with the owner so those dogs are still there.

I'm concerned for my families safety if these dogs have attacked someone and are still living two houses down from me as my daughter plays in front of our home with her friends all the time.

After all that, how can I find out the circumstances, who was attacked, what all the blood was from and if the dogs that attacked someone are still in my neighborhood?

Thanks for any insight.

Contact your local PD and get a report number, it should be ready for release two weeks after it is turned in by the Officer. Contact the records section of your local PD, give them that report number and they'll be able to help you secure a copy. They probably charge for it, but I'm sure it's nothing outrageous cost-wise.

Well, it was the PD that I've called twice that won't give me any information and will "have someone call me" for which I am still waiting. Was hoping there was another way around this without having to deal with the PD who isn't wanting to discuss the issue for some reason.

I thought any viscous dog attacks resulted in dogs being either taken away or put down. Maybe it wasn't the pitbulls that did this. Have you asked your neighbors?

I don't watch the news but I heard a teaser the other night during some show about "a woman sics her two pit bulls on a neighbor after an ugly dispute", or something. I don't see it online anywhere now, though.

This isn't your neighborhood, is it?

Here's another-
Fight between Phoenix neighbors ends with pit bull attack

I really don't think if your neighbors pit bulls were involved in any attack, they'd be home right now.

There is a web site in Mesa that you can see crimes by a map. I don't recall if it's wider than Mesa, I think so. Sorry, I don't remember the name. They don't give details but you can see some very general info about the crime and the location.

If the dogs are licensed and vaccinated, they can be quarantined at home, I believe. So, it could be those dogs, or not.

For the safety of our children i would call PD, City Hall, HOA again and again until someone get to the bottom of it.
I would put the electronics fence on as well as prepare a good baseball bat out front.

Might be a good excuse to meet your neighbors...
I.e.," there's a blood trail that ends at your house, are you guys all ok?"

In this kind of situation, if the dogs were yours, I suspect you would want people to talk to you, and not behind your back. There's probably more to the story if the dogs are still there.

If you're worried about your safety in the neighborhood, a glock is what the police use for vicious dogs. Strap one on for your evening walks - I hear they work for vicious two-legged creatures as well.
