"Mr. Majestyk" with Charles Bronson rather famously used too much explosives in a stunt scene at the old Phoenix Trotting Park on the I-10 and blew out all the windows and killed about a gazillion pigeons.

The 1982 Rolling Stones concert film Let's Spend the Night Together consists primarily of footage from a 1981 concert at Sun Devil Stadium. During one song Mick Jagger runs down the stairs through the crowd. My wife, myself and a friend can be seen a few feet away from him in the chaos.

For anyone familiar with the far east valley, check out "Wild 7" starring Richard Roundtree, Robert Loggia, and Robert Forster. It's a dark comedy about a bad guy just released from the AZ state prison in Florence who messes up a lot of lives. Local scenes you can see are The Desert Flame, the gas station/pizza place on Broadway just west of Ellsworth, AJI Guns in their old location at Meridian & the trail, and plenty of views of the Superstitions.

It was an indy film, or at least not a major one, so it's rare to find anywhere. It can be rented on Amazon instant video, though.

Not sure if this was already mentioned, but the 1980 movie "Used Cars" was filmed in the east Valley (mostly Mesa). This was one of the first well known movies directed by Robert Zemeckis, but it was a much different style compared to many of his later movies. Also, compared to his later ones like "Back to the Future", "Roger Rabbit", and "Forrest Gump", "Used Cars" was pretty low budget and didn't score too highly at the box office.

The funny part is: I have watched this movie twice, and I don't recall a particular city or location being mentioned as to where it was supposed to take place. Even though it was obvious that the scenes were filmed in the Phoenix area, it was almost as if the city location of the used car lots were supposed to remain a mystery. In fact, to add to the mystery, one of the title cards of "Used Cars" shows Kurt Russell and Deborah Harmon by a car with a California license plate!
