Hello Phoenix,

So I was watching 'The Getaway' on tv the other night and realized that it had been filmed here in Phoenix in 1994. In one scene the female leading character, Kim Basinger is checking in to the Arizona Biltmore. Amazed actually I looked up some of the movies that had been filmed here.

So to name a few like The Getaway are The Kingdom in 2007, or a classic Marilyn Monroe movie, Bus Stop filmed outside the Westward Ho.

Anyone have another fav that was filmed here?

Raising Arizona, one of the Coen Brothers first big movies. Not much of a Nic Cage fan, but he was great in this movie.

Not really Phoenix, but love "U-Turn" which was filmed in Superior.

"Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure", filmed in the Valley. My alma mater's cross-town rival, Coronado High School, doubled as San Dimas High... the Circle K at Hardy and Broadway was where "strange things were afoot".

15 years earlier it was a young Robert Blake in "Electra Glide in Blue". One of the more haunting endings in a movie.

Electra Glide in Blue was filmed around Phoenix though the best scenery in the film was shot up near Monument Valley.

Tucson: "Can't Buy Me Love", with a very youthful Patrick Dempsey. "Revenge of the Nerds", filmed at Adams College (really the UofA, I was in training at DM in 1984 when they filmed it). And for those who love schlock, "Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man" which transformed downtown Tucson into Burbank, and "Tank Girl" which was mindless escapism.

None are really all that good but they were filmed in AZ.

Gonna side with SluggoF16. Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. Don't forget that the mall scene was filmed in Metro Center, and the waterpark scene was in Mesa...

"The Nutty Professor" (1963) was filmed at ASU. While Eddie Murphys remake may have received a blessing from Jerry Lewis and was good, I prefer the original.

Was watching KTVK 3.2 when a Mel Brooks movie was starting named "The Vagrant" (1992). I was surprised to see it was produced here in Phoenix. Not a favorite, but a strange kind of flick. It was clearly filmed among the housing near downtown (Moreland corridor?) along Central Ave.
I will say that after the house was converted to a virtual fortress, I thought to myself "I want that house!"

A movie called "Queens of Country" was filmed in Cave Creek two years ago. It's made the rounds at several film festivals and had a showing in Scottsdale, but seems to have fallen into the abyss.

Has anyone seen it?
