Default How Is litchfield park?

I am relocating in November and I found a great rental in Litchfield Park. It is an older home, built in 1975. Looked great, but I wonder about the area. Is it safe? The home did have a security door from the pictures so I wondered if it might not be a great neighborhood.
Thanks

I've seen a lot of security doors in Phoenix. I don't think it necessarily means the neighborhood is bad. We are renting as well and our house also has a security door but the neighborhood seems pretty decent. We've lived here 9 months now.

As far as Litchfield Park goes, I'd love to find a place to buy there myself! LP is a pretty new area so I'm surprised there are homes that old - but then again, I'm a transplant so I really don't know much. The places where all the shopping is at seem to have nice neighborhoods. Maybe somebody with more knowledge can give you a better answer but from an "outsider's perspective" my first instinct is you should be good!

Good luck

In the good old days we had security, or screen doors, only for the nice weather. It's great to keep your door open and let the cool, crisp air in. Nowadays, I think it's a little more a security device, of course it's still nice to have the door open.

DUH! So that's what they are used for!!!!!

I keep forgetting that we get perpetually nice weather here during the non-summer months. A native Texan, the humidity never allowed us to keep doors open for the "breeze"!

I plan on moving to Litchfield park in January also!
I spoke to a guy who was based at Luke AFB for 6 years and he said Litchfield Park was very nice and he would move back there if he ever moved back to the Phoenix area.

LP is one of the better places to live in the Phoenix area (affluent, top-rated schools, close to the freeway, lots of nearby shopping). And yes, the security door is to let in the air and not have to be concerned. A flimsy screen screen door is OK for the cabin, but this is the big city after all and a metal door is more prudent no matter what neighborhood you live in.

Default Schools

I am looking at moving to Litchfield Park area or other towns close by there.
Does anyone know what the best schools are for ages seven and ten or eleven year olds? Thank you

We moved away from Litchfield several years ago but I had to add to this post. It is a WONDERFUL place to live and if I had to come back to AZ it's the only place we'd go. The schools are actually pretty good and it's wonderful for your kids to be able to walk to school. The town is great for bicycling and the Wigwam has terrific restaurants and golf. It was quite safe when we lived there. We also rented first, decided we loved it and bought an 1964 ranch for a song and completely redid it. It turned into a fabulous house.

Has anyone been to Arroyo Mountain Estates in Litchfield? If so, how is the area?

When I talk about Litchfield Park, I'm talking about the real Litchfield Park..inside the walls. Not the subdivisions that have sprung up around it.
