Used to listen to Howard Stern, then Adam Carolla every morning - I'm still mad that they changed that station format. Now there's nothing on the radio here that I like, other then Barry Young in the morning. I do LOVE him! He's almost, in a way, like an older, calmer version of Adam Carolla.

I'm not a big fan of Rush or Hannity - they're repetitive and Rush is too much about Rush. So it's usually CD's till we get Sirius next week, then it's back to Howard - I'll have come full circle

Kind of Michael Savage lite. Most of these guys will ALWAYS take the dissenting callers first which makes for a great exchange of ideas. Can't say that for that silly failed Air America station.

Rush is a funny guy, but I'd rather here some serious, entertaining debate. Hannity is a bit simple and does rehash Rush stuff.

Joe Crummy was pretty fun, he shouldn't have tried to pretend to be living here though when most knew he lived in LA.

I didn't know Dennis Miller had a radio show. I'll have to check it out. Thanks for the info!

As much as I like good music, most of the FM crews talk about trivial stuff. That's fine... some people simply want to be entertained. But it's shocking how many people don't balance this with attention to real news. They've never heard of Burma but know that Paris Hilton is going to Africa. Yay. Get your music fix, but please also get into some issue debates. It's good for you and better for the country.

As for the rest of KFYI, though I tend to prefer Republicans on national issues, I do find Hannity/Rush to be repetetive on most days. The same could be said of more liberal hosts. If you keep banging the same drum, people get bored. The same station had Joe Crummy for a while (afternoon drive). I thought he was a breath of fresh air. Some tude. Some smarts. He localized issues but ended up not being local and got yanked. Now we've got JD Hayworth, who I find competent yet dull. He pretty much picks up the same baton from Hannity/Rush. There's no imagination or tude. If any of you have been in LA and listened to KFI's Handel in the Morning or John & Ken, you know what I mean. Love them or hate the, they stir juices. Daytime is meant for talk/debate.

At night, my radio is still tuned to KFYI, so I get Michael Savage. He grates me in so many ways but he's also spot on when it comes to many issues. After him, it turns into the loopy station.

But at night I do love the Alice Cooper show. They guy is a great steward of PHX and music in general.

Ditto on all the above

You tell 'em Power Surge!

And Turco, I think it's your turn now to spend a few hours in your room!

Actually I was in my garage doing' some handy work on something.

On the radio stations, I listen to KDKB on Saturday mornings, that's when Dee Snyder (Twisted Sister) has a program called The House Of Hair from 8:00 until 10:00 AM, then on Saturday nights from 8:00 until 11:00 PM (I think), and he plays a lot of the Hair Band era music from the 1980's. - 20 years from now, after Rap has long been gone (hopefully) I wonder if some Rap artist will have some similar program equivelant to the House of Hair!

Probably. It would likely be called the Toilet House, because that's where the majority of rap "music" belongs ... in the toilet!

Not that I know of. I think the "Free FM" talk concept didn't draw the attention they had hoped for. Either that, or the corporation which owned the rights to the Leykis show and the other FM talkers was having problems (financial or otherwise). I'm just speculating because I heard many other cities dropped the FM talk format the same time Phoenix did.

You may or may not know this: Tom Leykis used to be a local talk show host in Phoenix some 20 years ago on KFYI. Back then, he was pretty liberal, and based his talk show on local/national political issues. He also hosted a dating show on Fridays. Now, his show is national ... and it's mostly questionable advice on man/woman relationships. He truly is an overberaring blowhard, but he can be entertaining at times.

I don't listen to the local radio stations anymore ever since I got Sirius Satellite almost a year ago- Sirius rocks! But when I did listen to the radio, I loved 98.7 the Peak.
