Just moved to 75th Ave and Lower Buckeye Rd from 19th Ave and Bethany Hm Rd. water bill went from $49.99 a month to $85 a month. I now have all these wonderful new charges on my bill like State mandated jail costs, and Refuse fee of $27! All we have is a 3 bedroom house without a pool, and zero scape yard. And I thought I moved out here to SAVE money.

What were you being charged per month for trash before? Are you now outside City of Phoenix water, and getting a bill from a different entity?

This is a great thread folks...is really giving me an idea of what to expect over there. Thank you! Sounds like these sorts of bills are more expensive in the west than in east valley.

You know, last night when I opened my bill I asked myself that very same question. I know for certain though, that the itemized Refuse was not on the water bill on my previous bill. What makes it confusing is that when I moved, I received an entirely new account number. On my last account, I know solid waste was somewhere around $10 a month which brings my bill to the very affordable $49. As for being outside the area, nope. I'm still in the city limits. The water bill comes directly from Phoenix. I just don't understand why my solid waste (trash, refuse) is over double? On my bill for water usage, I only pay $18.50 out of the $85 bill!

I'd call and ask them, with the old bill and the new bill in front of you, to explain the differences.

I've been going through all my old paperwork and the left over unopened boxes, lol, searching for the old bills. Unfortunately, usually after I pay the utilities bill, I shred the bill. So I may just be SOL.

Speaker of water bills...I'm trying to make sense of how much water costs with Epcor.

This is a recent bill of mine, I *think* it's 72¢ for the first 1k gallons and then $1.07 for every 1k gallons thereafter...is that right?

I always heard people say that Epcor Water is very expensive compared to say City of Phoenix but that doesn't seem too bad. The "Basic Service" is a little high but usage seems cheap.

I pay $53 for water, sewer, trash every month to City of Chandler. We have reclaimed water for landscaping in Ocotillo and it keeps watering the grass and flowers very inexpensive. No pool. 4 beds and 2 baths house. Oh yah, bulk pickup at the curb is free, every 6 weeks.

Wow that seems pretty good, especially the bulk pick up. Peoria has bulk pick up once per year!
