best community college
I'm 20, male, and will be moving to phoenix from mississippi in january, im leaning towards tempe as of now. I was wondering what the best community college around the area was. the only ones i've heard of are mesa cc and scottsdale cc. I think there is one in glendale but like i said im looking to more than likely go to one near tempe, unless the one in glendale or another cc in the phoenix area is specifically nice.

You just answered your own question - Scottsdale or Mesa CC.

awesome, so either of those are good? i know the san diego city college had a median age of 30 and was in a shady part of downtown. there isn't anything like that with either of those is there? JeepGirl118, I see by your location that your more than likely not a fan of AZ, why so? I'm going to be coming from mississippi, which in my opinion no place can be worse than here; and PHX seems cool to me as long as i spend the summers in cali. And your headed to florida? I myself am not a fan due to the fact that they also have triple digit weather and high humidity, like ms-we got to 109 this summer, plus hurricanes and tornadoes, many partly cloudy days and rain. I'm not bashing florida though, it has its pluses too. I'd value your opinions, thanks.

I say which ever one is closest to your house. Seriously, I think they are all the same. Check maricopa.edu for the locations of all of them.

I agree with Sable they are all the same. It depends on what you are taking and the availability of the classes also. I don't think MCC is in a shady part of town although I myself would not live in the surrounding area but if you are planning on attending MCC look at renting in Hudson Trace pretty. It's on the Tempe Mesa border. It's a cute complex, at least it used to be. Maybe someone can comment and let you know if it's still holding up.
I spent years in AZ and enjoyed it but now that I'm out I sure wish I would have spent my 19 years some where else(like by an ocean). It almost feels like I was a frog being cooked slowly to death in boiling water. Oh well it could have been much worse, I could have spent my last 19 years in upstate NY.

I attended MCC(Southern Av Main Campus) and it was one of the few things about living in Phoenix that was great. Great teachers, all my courses transferred, and I had a great experience going there. The library at MCC is very good, actually much better than the university's library I graduated from here in Minnesota. It is a huge school, it serves more than 25000 students, so the flexibility of courses is great. Most people that go to MCC end up transferring to ASU, so if that is your plan, you will see many of your classmates at ASU once you transfer. Very convenient to Tempe and tuition is very reasonable. Great school!
