Winner

That's right...and her's starts early and will catch some of the rush on two of the days, but her trip home will be after the rush. So, she'll drive about 2 trips per week during potentially heavy traffic (probably catch it on the tail end of her trips). I'm looking at 15-20 minutes for my drives...which is better than what I have now.

You pegged it...the washington/priest area. I'd like Scottsdale, but haven't been able to find something I like for the money I have. I'll keep looking. I have a couple weeks before our house shopping trip. I'll probably be back on here asking for hints about a few schools.

Thanks!

70 Drop Top, Yes, Settlers Meadow is a longer commute for you. It is a good area but it is fairly close to the railroad that runs diagonally across Gilbert, and you'll hear the train there. It is a nice area, but just from what I've read, it appears that Andersen Springs may be a better fit for you.

In my opinion, Andersen Springs is a nicer area, and it's about one mile to the 101, so that saves you 15 to 20 minutes of commute time over Settlers Meadow. It's a nice clean neighborhood with an HOA. Most communities have HOA's, and while many people are opposed to them, the well run HOA's help to keep the community up, and help the property values.

It's very close to the large, popular Chandler Fashion Mall with lots of restaurants near by.

The homes were built around 1989, and some are semi-custom. You can get a 3300 sf home with a pool for under $400k. Taxes for 2007 on one particular home there was $2200. The HOA is $30 per month.

The elementary school is Erie; middle school is John M Andersen; and the high school is Chandler High.

Let me know if you need more specific information.

Bill
