Moving without Visiting..Please Help. Is this Safe???
I found an apartment (I have a short term move to phoenix).. I have never been and do not have time to visit before I move. They are Cantamar Apartments located in the Glendale area on N 43rd Street between W Greenway road and W Bell Road. Please let me know if this area is good/safe. Thank you so much!!

If it is the area we have recently driven through, there are some ok pockets and some not so great pockets. I would stay closer to Deer Valley and 67th or at least above Bell Rd. Some of the other posters will be giving you some better directions. I would visit first and if you can't do that, get in touch with a realtor a.s.a.p!!!

It's not the worst place to live, that's for sure, but I wouldn't live there. But, I'm kinda picky. It's a middle class/working class area. You could do much worse.
Also, the street would be N. 43rd Avenue, not Street.

If you go to Google Maps and put in that zip code, then switch to hybrid mode, you can see satellite images of that area. Doesn't look bad to me.
Also, here: Arizona Crime Search - Crime In Arizona - Phoenix Crime Search - azcentral.com (broken link)
You can see how many crimes were reported in that zip last month. Doesn't look any worse than any other area.

Sablebaby and Artliquide said it best. Check the stats. The area is average. Not real good, not bad.

Honestly? I wouldn't do it. Especially being new to the area. That section to way too close to some pretty bad neighborhoods. Think far west, very far west. You are too close to places where you could get hurt, I'd spend the extra buck to be safe. Now if you were at 43rd STREET in east Phoenix, you'd be better off. It's near the PV mall. Good luck, but I think most people on this board would not live there.

You can get hurt anywhere. Honestly, if you look at the satellite, there are some decent sized houses and it looks mostly middle class suburban...not bad. My area had more crime reports last month and I certainly don't live in the ghetto (North Gilbert, and the neighborhood behind me is mostly mansions...though not mine! lol)
I just don't want anyone to be scared unjustly, especially if they can't afford to live in the most upscale areas where the police presence might be stronger.

I did the same thing. I moved to Phoenix without visiting and ended up on 27th Ave and Northern Nice apartment though when I didn't have to duck from bullets.
Anyway to answer you question I used to work in that area and it wasn't too bad but that was 10 years ago. If it's cheap I'd think twice. If you are renting an apartment step up the rent a little to avoid the riff raff.
Just don't rent anything around the Metro Center.
