I like Wickenburg. It has a neat, western, historical town feel to it. It is in a very hilly/mountainous area. We went there for a festival last year and really liked it. Are you looking to vacation or live there?

Wickenburg is the last western town in AZ, IMO. Great place to visit and perhaps live. Its a bit cooler than Phoenix too, which is nice in the summer.

I hope they keep the western theme alive in that little town. If they plan their development right, it could become quite the tourist town.

Wickenburg house prices
How do the home prices in Wickenburg compare to the Phoenix area?
We stopped there last year on our way to Laughlin and I picked up a housing magazine. At that time the prices were about $175 per sq ft in the brochure.

We went to Gold Rush Days. Here is a website link to Wickenburg's Chamber of Commerce that explains this festival: Wickenburg Chamber of Commerce It was a lot of fun.
About commute, it would be a long commute to Phoenix if you plan to work in Phoenix. Googlemaps shows 1 hr 11 min to 1 hr 50 minutes in traffic to go to central Phoenix. From Wickenburg to the outskirts of the Phoenix area (Sun City West on that route), it would be about 35 minutes.

I always thought of it as a once horse town. It's probably got a few more horses since I've been through in a few years.

Wickenburg is probably the last of the good ol western towns. It's very hospitable, small enough to know your neighbors, excellent climate, dude ranches, lots of horses, and it's close to Phoenix if needed. Though the urban scrawl of development is moving toward that direction and Wickenburg soon will become a huge developed area.
Prices compare to Phoenix area. Many homes sit on hills with view that cost a bit more.
Wickenburg today would be a good investment for the future.

My brother loves Wickenburg - he cannot wait to get out of Phoenix and move up there. It is pretty and a nice small town - peaceful. He loves going there to pan for gold.
