The Clanendon is such a cool hotel, a friend of mine stayed there on a business trip last year so I took the opportunity to checkout the interior, very retro/cool design. The rooftop is pretty nice as well.

It caught my eye, that's for sure. I actually passed the Shorewood and circled back around to take a pic, that's when I saw the Clarendon. I had no idea it even existed. Lots of cool 50's/60's architecture back there. Like a mini Palm Springs/old Vegas vibe. Very cool. Same goes for the old school (but nasty) Travelodge right there on 7th Ave and Van Buren.

The rebirth of the Clarendon is one of the best stories of revitalization in central Phoenix. Until it was brought back to life as a cool, trendy boutique hotel, it was best known to long time residents as the site of the Don Bolles murder (which was actually in the parking lot). Glad to see it have a positive recent history.

Agreed (for Central PHX). My fave in the Valley has to be the Valley Ho.

Here is a photo I took of the sunrise on 2/2/17:

So annoying that after uploading photo and it appears to be right-side-up, it appears upside-down when I post a reply I guess you have to click again after it loads in order for it to appear right-side-up.

Another good story. A friend of mine worked as a desk clerk at the Valley Ho in its old days. It's great to see what's been done there, too.
