I'm moving back to the area after a couple of years. Any new nightlife around there? Has the LR construction mess really increased? Any cool tattoos on the Sprouts employees? What moved into Marie Calender's?

Work on light rail is just beginning, so expect that part of town to be a mess for a few years. Was at that Sprouts yesterday and not much new going on over there either.

19th & Northern is one of the funkiest parts of town, you can go from a neighborhood of $500,000-$1 million houses to the third world in less than a half mile.

The old golf course is filling in with various busineses, LA Fitness, big Circle K. It looks like a new ihop is opening west of 19th on Northern. The Marie Calender's building is gone. There's an empty lot next to the Pollo Loco.

And oh yeah?! They already started construction on the light rail extension?! That's news to me, but it's great news! I would love some more details on this, but I don't wanna hijack this thread, maybe we should just make another thread about it. But - To the OP: If there is light rail construction in your neighborhood, yeah, it will be a pain in the butt for a few years, but then it will be so worth it when the light rail is done, especially if you are walking distance to a stop.

They "officially" began work on the light rail last week. So nothing is torn up yet and most of the traffic lanes are still open. Extending the light rail from Christown up to Dunlap.

400 yards. I was told last night, there is a new AutoZone opening next to the 3 USD Brushless carwash, which is next to the IHOP. That may be a relocation of the Autozone from the fringes of the Albertson's parking lot, for LR reasons. The IHOP is a replacement for one they are closing near Glendale and 19th.. DOn't know exactly why they moved it, because that other location is very close to ta new stop, also...maybe too close, like the AutoZone.

How did business' fare when the light rail was being constructed? I am curious if the construction will be enough to keep me away from Bookman's (assuming it will run by there...it would be a logical stop with Sprouts and Albertsons).

Which side of Northern will the new stop be on is a good question. WHo knows? Since the new Circle K is about 500 yards away, maybe they will close that one on the S side of Northern, and make a little more room for the Station.

I got a chuckle out of this. Its an area with a diverse demographic. I went to Sunnyslope and had friends who's parents earned six figures and other friends who's parents were unemployed heroin addicts. Was a great highschool. Money, or a lack thereof did not seem to make anyone more or less popular. A person was liked or disliked based almost entirely on their character and social skills.
