I will be flying to Arizona in March. I will not be renting a car, and was wondering what sort of public transportation I could use to get to Mesa to HoHokam Park for a couple Cubs spring training games. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Your title is misleading, since Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport is not in Queen Creek, even though the town lies directly south of the airport.

Using the Valley Metro trip planner, here is their suggested route:
  1. At the airport, board Route 184 (Power Rd) and head northbound to Superstition Springs Center.
  2. At Superstition Springs Center, transfer to the Main Street LINK bus and head to the station at Main St and Mesa Dr.
  3. At Main St and Mesa Dr, transfer to Route 120 Mesa Dr Northbound and head to the stop at Center St and Brown St.
  4. Walk to Hohokam Park from there.
Total fare is $7 and just to remind you, this trip will be at least 1 hour and 30 minutes. If this is too long for you, just take a Yellow Cab from the airport, however, considering the distance, you might just be better off renting a car.

I assume you aren't going directly to the game from the airport, but the route PinkJazz gave you will get you to downtown Mesa; there are hotels/motels from which you can get a cab, or some maybe have a shuttle.

Unfortunately, there are no bus routes that directly serve Queen Creek; you will have to be driven to and from the Mesa airport or the ASU Polytechnic Campus in order to catch the 184 Power Rd bus.

And, you can use that LINK bus that PinkJazz mentioned to get you to Main and Sycamore in Mesa, where you can catch the light rail into downtown.

If I were doing the rankings, I'd give Queen Creek a score of -10 in ease of doing things without a car. You may wish to reconsider a rental.
